2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Top "In Progress" displayed but top is closed and won't open anymore

I need the Best Chrysler Master Mechanic to answer this question: My convertible top closed but won't open anymore and the display shows 'Convertible Top In progress.' The last time I closed the top I noticed that the windows did not roll all the way up, they usually do. A few days after, the driver window started to stall, it usually moves down when I open the door and then closes completely after I close the door. Please help, thank you.

Your widow regulator is defective or the motor is defective. Remove door panel, using a punch, punch out the rivets, using a !/4 drill out the aluuminum plugs. Remove the regulator and inspect, if its not defective apply bearing grease when mechanism rolls up and down. Rivets must be replaced by 1/4 screws and nuts. Take motor apart, you will find three plastic plugs which have a tendency to disenegrate, replace these with ball bearings, pack the motor and I do mean pack it with wheel bearing grease. Reasemble.

I believe it's electric. It sounds like the motor is going bad. In theory, it would be harder for the motor to lift it, than it would to lower it.

I hope this helps

Chrysler Sebring 2008 convertible top malfunction message

As long as the trunk is open, It won't work. The top has it's own computer. Have the codes read. Takes a scanner. These have like 20 sensors and switches for the top and trunk. You can try to close the latch on the trunk with a screwdriver to get it to work. Another thing is there is a cover that pulls out . This has to be pulled out and latched in place. This will keep it from working also.

2008 Chrysler Sebring hard top convertible goes halfway back to open then stops in the middle of the cycle.

There are many possible causes of this problem on the convertible Sebrings, the most common problems are as follows;

1) The cargo platform in the trunk is in the wrong position which blocks the rear window from folding downward. Ensure that the cargo platform is in the down position before attempting to operate the top.
2) The Hydraulic pump is low on fluid, it is located in the trunk, in the left rear corner, underneath the carpet. Inspect the fluid level in the reservoir.
3) There is an electrical fault in the system.
4) There is physical damage to one of the panel pivots, inspect for panel binding while the top is moving.

A couple questions for you;

When the top stops moving can you still hear the pump running or does it go quiet?

When the top stops moving does the cluster display "convertible top in operation" or "convertible top malfunction" or something else?

Report back with anything you find or if you need further help.

Chrysler sebring roof wont open

Look under the back seat to see if there is any oil . Sometimes the hydrolic rams that move the top will leak fluid. If there is oil refill the fluid may help get the top open, but the ram will need to be replaced.

2008 sebring convertible when top is up trunk will not close

Mine took several hard slams to latch, with top up or down. Finally got dealer to adjust the latch which they originally said wasn't possible. Wore grooves into the latch rod while it was out of adustment, but at least now it closes.

Lowering convertible top

There should be latches you have to pull first to unlock the top from the windshield. Pull down the sun visors, the handles should be under them. Then push the power top switch.
