It has an injector for each cylinder. There is a pressure sensor that could be defective. Its in the fuel rail with a vac hose.

89 F350 7.5 gas EFI motor home, acts like it wants to start, but acts like its flooded. check my spark, check rotor every thing good there. at this point not sure if fuel regulator or ECU.


There are a few things you may try. Assume the opposite for fuel flooding and hit it with a sniff of starting fluid. If it tries to do something then you need to check why fuel is not getting to engine. You can use a multi-meter or borrow a noid tester to see if injectors are working.

As this is a motor home it can surely be wired different from a standard F350. There is an inertia sensor in Ford trucks to disconnect the fuel pump on impact. The inertia switch has a simple reset button on it.

As you have an older vehicle, the multi-port injection style has a crankshaft sensor which also sets fuel PSI. Can't say about yours, I know that there were throttle body injectors in 1984 Ford cars, but truck gross weight exclusions for EPA stuff even had carburetors remaining on trucks years later.

Your tester for problems needs to be for the earlier electronic ignitions. Its hard to do ECU testing without proper tools. One thing you might look at is the temperature sensor. The cold start sequence is triggered by the water temperature sensor telling the engine that it is cold and needs to enrich fuel mix through the ECU. It makes starting easier.

I have a 1996 gmc yukon 4x4 have flood problems I have put in new fuel pump has good fuel pressure changed coolant sensors changed throttle body changed computer plugs wires distributor cap and button coil...


Possibly a busted fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. The regulator is mounted to the end of the fuel rail.
With the engine idling, pull the vacuum line off the regulator port. If gas comes out of the port, replace the regulator.

Have troble starting engine after letting seat for a while with unit hot have change fuel regulator next to intake and change out body trodel position sensor


You need to check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. The regulator is a good guess but the fuel pump can also be letting fuel pressure drop. Once fuel pressure drops on a hot engine the fuel in the fuel rail will boil and essentially be a vapor lock condition. Fuel pressure should be around 56 psi and hold steady for at least 45 minute to an hour. If it drops within a couple of minutes to check valve in the pump is probably bad and the fuel pump module will need to be replaced.

The other thing, when you replaced the fuel pressure regulotar is is possible that you did not get all the old pieces from the old regulator out of the fuel rail. It is common for the screen and o-ring from the old regulator to stay in the fuel rail and they need to be removed carefully with a small pick.

It sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is not working.Too much fuel pressure at low speeds, and at idle,not enougfh fuel return into the tank.This may flood the intake ports and too much injector cleaner may destroy the in line fuel filter it may not be filtering the fuel,just bypassing the filtering ,like no filter at all.
