I have a 93 cadillac 60 series, the battery keeps draining and now my truck will not close with remote or with my key, any suggestions, I did get the truck open originally i was going to try taking out the bulb i thought maybe that was draining my battery, and now it won't close
thank you debbie
Ok, you have an auto trunk opener/pulldown. The battery is dead and you opened the trunk with key. SO, now here is what happened. The trunk pulldown motor and latch did not go up as it normally does, in order to catch the the trunk lid as you close it. Connect a battery charger to the battery or put jumper cables on with another car. It should raise. If not flip the little lever on the BLACK switch near pull down latch.
If you have a battery drain whether it be caused by the trunk motor or not, Did you disconnect and charge battery ? If left connected whatever is draining the battery, continues to drain even with a battery charger on. So if left connected you're charging for nothing. Battery isnt building up. If there a problem with trunk motor causing the drain, you would see the trunk going up and down a couple of inches, and hear the motor. It only wont close because the battery is dead
what did you finally do to close the lid overnight ?

I took my motor out of the loop on my 92 bro that had similar problem and than for the remainder of my caddys life with me I just shut my trunk manually.

originally the battery was not holding a charge, i kept charging it for the last few mornings and i realized something is draining it, i opened the trunk with the remote to see if maybe my truck light was staying on when lid was closed, after i made sure that wasn't the problem i tried to close the trunk and it would not close, i am now wondering if maybe there's something wrong with the trunk motor and maybe this is causing all the problems. is this possible
No the battery now is not dead, it has a full charge, and the trunk still won't go down. i have now disconnected the trunk motor and am leaving it over night to see if my battery keeps it's charge than i know it is the trunk motor , if car doesn't start in the am then i know it's not the trunk motor. thank you if i'm wrong please tell me
i tied the trunk down overnite made sure bulb was out and trunk motor was unhooked. i just got up and tried the car this morning and it started right up so i think i do need a new trunk motor
