QOD: are you dead SURE the slave is ok? moves .75 to 1inch and OK?
2wd or 4wd? not stated.?
no engine stated? v6 or i4?

the procedure is same on all 4wd cars/trucks(mostly)
some pull the engine , for sure if engine needs work,as most do
after 25 years,
or pull transfer case and trans, pulled at the bell.
depends too,if you like spending long time under car
or on top, bent over fenders. (and tools)
if engine out no need to drain 1 or 2 gear boxes..and links,console..endless details....4wd lots more....

the video above shows the odd DUCK, throw out bearing.
and is important to know all that,
why not get a service manual..>?or use mitchell's????

not too many 1990 on the road.
rare car and year.
done many jeeps and rice 4wd.
2.6L,, SACHs 9.5" clutch $120 ($300 is bs)
or
2.8 v6 SACHs 9.125" clutch. $170

see they are not the same.....
I like Sachs, as you can see.. china clones not.

do you know how to fit the flywheel pilot bushing
and inspect fly surface, ?

the staging on the 9 bolt PP is here

im online now at one famous site
and the install skips, pilot bearing, funny that.
a real service manual is far better.

trans mission pilot shaft tip wrecked, or spline wrecked?
or you wiggle said shaft and front bearing in the box is SHOT.?
flywheel warped, or?
just saying, ive seen it all there, every fail.
on some all those were bad, on many 25year old cars.

Holden Rodeo 4WD not selecting 2WD or4WD - 1992 model manual gearbox

You can now see the axles themselves and try to rotate them manually. While engaged in 4wd - they should not move more than a 1/4 turn. If both move free your diff or transfer box are bad, depending whether you see the front driveshaft moving or not. If drvshft is moving - transfer is bad. If not - the diff is gone. If only one is free - your axle is broken. Not a biggie to diagnose but one hell of a pita to fix... I'd advise you to head to the shop and and have a pro fix it. Cheers emi

Car will not move in any gear

your question is very brief making it hard to understand what you need to know , is your car manual or atomatic gearbox ?

if manual gear box then you may have one of many things , your clutch is worn out ,or maybe just the clutch slave cylinder , if 4wd is engaged does if move with front tire's if so rear tail shaft or diff broken .

if automatic , then you may have bands broken or blown gear box in both cases .

if 4wd drive try driving in 4wd using front wheel to drive vehicle , if it moves then rear diff or tail shaft is problem , if not gearbox is most likely dammaged

hope this helps you !

I have an 02 Mits. Lancer w/ a manual trans. Whenever I try to put it in any gear there's a lot of resistance. I pretty much have to use two hands and even then it's tough. Could this be a fluid problem or...

check hydraulics for leaks by looking at the slave cylinder on the gearbox activating the clutch fork, pull the rubber boot back (no fluid o.k)look at the clutch pedal under the dash and peel that rubber boot back(no fluid o.k)bleed it to be sure by pumping the clutch pedal, holding it down and getting someone to crack the bleeder on the slave cylinder on the gearbox,HOLD the pedal down and tighten the bleeder first before releasing the clutch pedal, otherwise air will be sucked in if you pull the pedal back first. If that doesnt work you probably need a clutch but this is more likley and check the line running from the master to the slave for leaks and tightness

dont listen to them, easiest way is: remove air intake box(3 nuts)
remove nuts surrounding the outer gearbox(about 6) and then remove the gearbox mounts
lower the gearbox and move slightly to the drivers-side. best to put a block or jack under it. then take the fly-wheel off(marking where it sits against the clutch kit)
and then pull the clutch plate off, making sure all fingers are not bent. i picked up a full clutch kit 2nd hand for 25$
