Question about Cars & Trucks
I need to know what circuit powers the egr valve on a 2001 chevy silverado 2500 hd 4x4. I have done all the tests required to determine that the egr valve is fine, however I do not get 10-12v to power it. Does anyone have any info?
Check your ground wires. Could be a hot spot on the wiring harness as well.

If you are sure the fuel pump relay is working, check continuity from the pump to the relay socket. These wires love to corrode. When you turn your ignition on, the fuel pump will only run for a couple seconds before it shuts off via the automatic shutdown relay. Make sure you are checking power within this window. The PCM (powertrain control module) is what completes the ground in order for the relay to send power to the pump. If the PCM does not recieve a signal from several sensors (mainly the Crank Sensor) it will not turn on the pump. You may want to check these sensors, is the check engine light on? You can scan it to see if any sensors have thrown a code. Be sure all applicable fuses are ok, the PCM may have its own fuse, check that even if the fuel pump fuse is ok. Your Truck may also have an inertia switch for the fuel pump which shuts it off during an accident. Check that as well.

SOURCE: replacing pcv valve
driver side valve cover in the back of the cover. if it even has one, sometimes the cover has been replaced with a later style that uses a baffle instead of a pcv

The reason is they are pressed in and you have to press them out with a tool and some have a C clip that has to be removed you can go to schucks or autozone to rent the tool to press out and it has to be pressed back in.

. The EGR valve is located in front of the oil filler neck. All you need to do is remove the electrical wire from the top of the valve, there is a clip on the connector so don't try and pull it off without lifting the clip. Once the wire has been disconnected, just unbolt the two bolts holding the EGR valve on. Thats it.

on the 4.3l version the knock sensor is on the back left side of the engine right by the bell housing. on the bigger engines they are below the intake manifold in the engine valley
