Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I'm having electrical problems with my 2005 Chrysler 300. It started with my turn signals, cruise control, and wipers not working. Then after replacing some fuses, I got them all to work properly. I then tried to leave in my car and it wouldn't start. Come to find out that my battery was dead. Today I just bought a new battery and after hooking it up it started right away. But I was back at the original problem, turn signals etc. Were not working again. So, I left it alone and tried to do some more research Online, and when I went back to start it so I could take it to a mechanic, it wouldn't start! Someone please help. I'm tired and frustrated and approaching a week without my car :(

SOURCE: Problem with 2005 Jaguar XJ8L

Hi Tracy.
Yes its a new one to me too !
I presume its an automatic model ?
Possibly the gear selection inhibitor switch is at fault, due to water ingress ?
Have you tried starting in neutral ?
Do you hear any clicking from the engine starter at all, when you turn the key ?
If you do, then suspect the starter motor at fault.
I see you posted this on Dec the 6th, so expect you have located the problem by now, if not hope I have been of some help.
Best Wishes !

Where is the windshield wiper and turning signals connection located?

The turn signal/wiper multifunction switch controls are contained in the switch assembly. The wiring to both is plugged into the back of the switch inside the steering column covers. These switches have a high failure rate.

Problem with electric on chrysler 300, turn signals and wipers wont come on, traction control kicks off and on.

Sounds like your turn signal/wiper switch on the side of your steering column is having problems. Like you said, it could very well be your computer. There is no way to reset the computer without the right software tools. I would try wiggling the switch to see if you can get it to work momentarily, if they work for a split second, then you know your switch is bad.

How to repair turn signal switch that will not turn off automatically on a 2005 Chrysler 300?

In some models, you have to remove the upper and lower steering column covers to access the multi-function switch. If you're lucky, once you remove the covers, you will see the access screws that anchors the switch to the column. Unscrew the screws, disconnect the electrical leads and remove the switch.
