SOURCE: coolant in the oil 1998 chevy truck vortec

It is very possible that it is NOT the head gasket, it very well could be bad intake gaskets a good way to know for sure with out pulling the motor apart is pull your spark plugs, if its got coolant in the tubes there will be a white film on your plugs, this is not a 100% for sure awnser just a good way to start checking

Hi i have a 97 chevy with the vortec 5.7 with 312.556 and i was thinking of using seafoam on my engine because of carbon build up but i also heard with that many miles seafoam would damage my engine.

Seafoam added to fuel should not cause problems. You may find those who say oil additives such as Marvel Mystery oil may clean engine deposits leading to excessive oil consumption/smoking. That's a lot of miles for any engine without an overhaul. Good luck.

Hi- I need to know if the oil sending unit is bad in a 1999 chevy suburban 5.7L vortec will cause a no start condition?

No. The engine will still start, however if the sending unit is not working you will have no oil pressure and you will damage the motor and possibly lock it up. This vehicle can run with the unit not working correctly

Oil pressure guage drops off to nothing after vehicles runs for awhile 1999 chevy blazer 4.3 vortec engine

get it inspected. you may have engine sludge, or a failed oil pump, or a bad gauge or sender, or possible a failed engine. The main bearings on the crankshaft could be warn out causing this. Do not drive with no oil pressure or the engine will surely fail if it hasn't already.

Turns over but dont start let off key and sputters 3or4 times 1998 Vortec 350 Chevy Z71 4x4

The freeze plug you replaced was due to rust or was it pushed out by freezing temperature? These plugs are not designed to protect the engine block from cracking during freezing temperatures, they are there to remove the sand from the block after casting it. I would drain your system completely and flush out the radiator thouroughly and fill with plain water, then run the engine and see if oil gets in the water, if it does and the plug was out due to freeze, then your block is probably cracked, although you could just have a head gasket leak. Oil pressure (40psi) is higher then water pressure (17psi), so getting oil in the water is always more prominent than the other way around. Flush out the system and let me know if oil returns to the water, hope this helps

i would try to flush the cooling system completely
if I had to guess someone put stop leak in it when the freeze plug started leaking
also check the oil to make sure there is no water in the oil

93 Chevy Blazer S-10 4.3L F.I.

if this is the vortec engine you may want to check to confirm that the injector pot is working. The injector pot is located under the air intake manifold (top half only) & PLEASE BE SURE TO DISCONECT BATTERY FIRST. if you unbolt the top half of the intake manifold you will find the main injector pot otherwise known as the SPIDER. This part does have a history of failing and can be very costly to replace if you purchase it new. most junk yards should be able to find one for you.

Problem with Chevrolet 4.3 Vortec fuel pressure / oil pressure relay

a bad fuel pump relay will not cause vehicle to only run under 50. the oil pressure switch does bypass relay when pressure builds up. if you are having problems with running need to check fuel pressure. possibly caused by clogged fuel filter
