My driver side caliper blown instantly only one brake worked...I replaced the caliper & pads & pedal won't build up pressure to bleed but the one brake still works

Replace both front flex hoses & both
front calipers
Take off master & pull out piston & clean
the moisture off it also

yep this is a two man job, onece you get air in the lines is better to do all four, my has abs and i was able to do it, but next time don't take anylines lose just turn the piston clockwise and you should be able to push it in.

SOURCE: no brake line pressure on 1 caliper after replacing caliper

I suspect you may have twisted the hose on re assembly. The other possibility is that the bleed nipple is choked with dirt and rust. Remove it completely and see if the fluid starts to run out. If so replace nipple or clean out.

on the inside of wheel is a small bolt that bleeds the brake you my need a extra hand so some one can pump brakes, start from the back then the front, have person who is helping pump brakes a few times then tell to hold pedal down after confirm the pedal is down brake open the bleeder valve then close when fluid shoots out do this Intel feel brake pedal comes up a little after the one move to next bleeder valve. back to front.driverthen, passenger then move to the front and do same. this may help!!!

There is nothing special that you need to do. You need to make sure that you bleed the brake system starting at the master cylinder FIRST. You also want to make sure that you do not have any more leaks or open lines. Do not turn the car on until the brakes are bled or the air will go into the other circuits. The other thing to look out for is bad brake pads, If these are worn they can cause kind of a spongy pedal.

first of all make sure master cylinder is full of brake fluid.then you crank car leave foot off brake pedal. watch abs light on dash it should turn off in 10 seconds if not have car towed to garage or dealer. they have to use a scanner to scan the abs brakes if abs light turn off in 3 seconds. then starting bleeding from master bleed the lower brake line fitting at the proportional valve followed by the upper brake line fitting. keep eye on brake fluid in mastercylinder dont let run dry.next prime the abs hydralic modulator.connect the bleeder hose to the rear bleeder valve on the modulator.place the other end into a container partially filled with cleab brake fluid.make sure the end of the hose is submerged.open the bleeder valve slowly about 1/2 to 3/4 turn have an assistant depress the brake pedal and hold it in the depressed position. when the flow of fluid ceases close the bleeder valve.repeat process until no air bubbles are present in the fluid.then tighten the bleed valve securely. start bleeding brakes. your bleeding sequence is right rear - left front - left rear - right front.WARNING IF ALL FAILS YOUR BRAKES DONT FEEL SOLID AND FEEL VERY SPONGY.DONT DRIVE CAR. HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.THEY WILL HAVE TO PRESSURE BLEED YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM.

Master cylinder must be bench bled before it is installed or it will not build pressure possible you have a bad booster try bleeding the master cylinder first

sounds like the brake master cylinder seals are worn buy a master cylinder kit and get a mechanic to repair it it is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit

You never replace only one caliper

You do both sides

Bleeders are mounted to top of caliper

Have a helper in drivers seat to slowly
press brake pedal as you open & close
bleeders

Start at back & do all 4 corners

The master takes care of it's self

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. I had to replace the front brake pads, rotors and calipers. After bleeding the brakes I still have a soft pedal. when pressing it the pressure builds up but after pumping then...


bench bleed the master cylinder then start bleeding at the rear passenger then rear driver, front passenger then finally front driver hopefully that helps you

1981 Silverado front driver side brake cant be bled.


Take the bleed screw out and clean it, it may be packed with dirt and plugged up. Keep trying to bleed till you get all the air out, and fluid has a steady stream out the bleed valve. If all else fails, rent or buy a pressure bleeding device that forces brake fluid into the lines

How do i replace the front calipers on my 2001 4runner,done lots of pad and rotor replacement but never any front calipers?thx.


Pretend like you're changing the rotors but don't take the rotors off. Instead, take the hydraulic line off the caliper using a line wrench. Have the new caliper ready and quickly hook the line up and tighten. Put the new caliper back on. The caliper comes with the piston collapsed, so very little bleeding is needed. Crack the bleeder open and see if it will gravity bleed. If nothing comes out, have someone push the pedal down while you loosen and then tighten the bleeder. Have them hold it down until you tighten to avoid drawing air into the caliper on the backstroke. Watch the reservoir carefully as the piston comes out--keep it full so you don't draw air into the lines. Repeat the pushing of the pedal and opening and closing the bleeder until no air comes out. Then continue pumping the pedal until the piston has closed the gap between the pads and rotor. Go to the other side and repeat. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Something doesn't sound right, you shouldn't have to remove the brake line to install pads. Did you have to do this on both sides? Do the new pads and the old pads look the same? Did you get the caliper on crooked? Just recheck your work first before replacing more parts. When you install the caliper, You have to hook the pad on one side first before you slide it over the rotor.

Replced front brake pads and calipers adjusted


Bleed the master cylinder first. You have to do that before you belled any calipers or wheel cylinder.
