Why does the fuse immediately blow on my power door locks? how to fix this?


You have a short somewhere in the system. Maybe one of the lock actuators or a switch. To test disconnect all locks and switch then replace fuse if don't blow start with driver door and reconnect lock check fuse see if it blew if not reconnect switch active lock check fuse see if ok. Continue with each door separate using same steps until fuse no good you will have found short. Replace shorted part.

My power door locks and rear hatch on my 2000 GMC Safari will not work. Everything else is still working. Any idea of what may be wrong?


There are two fuses associated with the door locks system. The first is the Cigarette Lighter Fuse (Fuse 13 - 20A). This fuse provides power to the switches to activate the lock/motor relays. The second fuse is the PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker (30A). This provides the power thru the relay contacts to the lock solenoids/door motor. Both of the are in the Instrument Panel (IP) Fuse block.

1995 Camry - power windows and power locks quit working. I'm guessing a fuse but can't find any information in the manual.


One nice thing about Toyota is they tell you what fuses are what on the fuse boxes. There is one under the hood and one under the dash. There should be a window fuse or lock fuse/door fuse something along those lines.

Check your fuses first. Then check for power at the switches, and power from the switches to the respective solenoid and motor. Most likely it's fuses. Also check where the wiring runs through the door into the car for bare spots in the wiring that might have blown the fuses.

Power door locks on a 2004 chevy tahoe don't work


The door locks on my 1999 tahoe stopped working and I checked the fuse, which was fine. The problem turned out to be that the fuse for my cigarette lighter was bad and for some reason it also must be working in order for the door locks to work. Put in a new cigarette lighter fuse and the door locks worked again!

Camry 1996 automatic power lock doen't work, but windows work.


if you can here relays when unlocking/locking check for power at door lock actuators inside doors, if you have power on lock/unlock and good earth from connector actuators are faulty.
if no power on test light when operating check output from central door lock module while operating, none coming out of module then it might need replacing.
check 30Amp power fuse for main relay under bonnet (which goes to pin 8 white/blue on module)and 10Amp gauge fuse in cab(pin 1 blue/red on module),pin 15 is also power when relay is on(red/blue) with test light, and module/ actuators.
check outputs from module pin 3 & 4
blue/red
blue/black
that go to door locks

1995 Bonneville door locks wont work


Underneath the steering wheel, that plastic trim panel covers your fuse block. In that fuse block is the fuse for Power Locks, or it may be labeled ACC. (Accessories)

Yes, many things besides a blown fuse can cause the power door locks to not work.
1.Fuse Good? Yes? Go to 2.
2.Door panel off.
Door lock motor solenoid getting power? Yes? Check door lock solenoid.
(The solenoid is merely a coil of wire that moves a plunger up, or down) (You need to see if power is being fed through the wiring harness, going through the door, from the fuse block)

Check door lock solenoid with jumper wire that has power. Make sure the door lock solenoid has a good ground, and no corrosion between it's body, and where the body of it bolts to.
Water can get past the weatherstripping, make it's way into the door, and cause corrosion. The door metal, is the ground for the door lock solenoid.

Check through the rubber tube,( Going from the car body to the door), and see if there is a ground wire. Sometimes there is an additional ground wire, in the wiring harness, going through that rubber tube.

If so, check it's connection to the body of the car. Don't assume that because it looks clean, and is tight, that there is no corrosion present between it's metal spade connector end, and the body of the car.
Remove it, make sure there is a clean connection, (NO paint), and reinstall.
I suggest this for all of the connections.

2000 Mercury Cougar Power door locks do not work on either door


Power door locks are on the same fuse as the alarm system. The fuse is located in the passenger compartment fuse panel under the steering wheel. There is a pull down lever that will release the fuse box. The fuse for the alarm system/locking system is #25. Yellow color and a 20 ampere rating.

Power Lock Doors


It happened to mine. Could not find a fuse listed for it. Some one told me to test each fuse with a test light. However my light was 120volt. I took out each fuse and inspected them and put them all back in.
When I was done the door locks were working. It must have been a loose fuse
