SOURCE: 2005 Freestar turn signals
I have always had that problem and opted to not fix it. It is annoying, but not a major issue. The turn signals work just fine it just depends upon how hard I take my turn...so I slow down a bit more now and honeslty havent had it happen in a while :)

You will need to remove the steering wheel. If you have air bags it will take some special tools. Without these tools you should not try it. Without air bags, you will unhook the wiring at the base of the column for the switch. there is a mounting bracket that holds the column up, remove it. Remove the screws that hold the switch in. Tie a piece of heavy string to the wires at the base of the column.Pull the switch out till you can get to the string. Tie the string to the new switch wiring, and fish it back down through the column. Then reassemble everything else. Good Luck
