Question about Honda CR-V
Honda CRV 1995 in and out of garrage for start up problems. Any solutions? Just acquired a used car and mileage at 118000 but have not enjoyed the car in a single bit, biggest problem is ignition, dash lights on, lights and electronics work perfectly well but the engine wont start (frustrated) have not even made 100km with the car and is in and out of the garage. Love the car but hate it now because it has failed to start on several occasions just after a few minutes in when it has been running. It seems the technician wont also solve it worse and for all. Honda drivers or people with same experience what did you do when u re faced with this night mare? Battery just replaced.
Yea, there is no such thing as perfect old car, not with out hard hard work. i restore, them, older cars so, see this zillion times.
wait til the new cars of today become, old, (they will be retired early)
the best old car is a 1996, (new ECU that is smart)
as you buy newer, just more useless parts to break at 10x cost.
why not focus like a laser beam on the 1st problem. day 1 , at a time.
and if the mechanic cant see you demonstrate the problem , then
he can't FIX what which works right. can he. (he is only a man, not god)
one way to cure this is find a nice independent shop with ASE stickers on their sleeves. and ask them to drive it for 1 day,
you posted lots of things there, most are no any help
only need to know ?
1: keyon, CEL glows, and does my stater motor crank at full speed.
250RPM + is good, you know that normal sound...
2: if it cranks fast , and fails to start.
you then check for spark at all cylinders, lost it to 1 or all 4?
ever do the full 60,000 mile interval tune up? if not do expect bent valves when the cam belt snaps. $20 belt or $2000 junk engine.
your choice ,its and interference engine.
3: got spark on all 4 or 6 cylinders.
4: last is fueling, as the ECU cuts fuel when it SEES bad spark , by design(logic)
so we land here, and look at those new spark plugs.
and see what? dry or wet, black , oily what?
the TIPS. learn to read them, they talk to you.
if dry , then you lost fueling, try test fuel in spray can./ run for 3seconds?
if wet its flooding, use flooding as you guide.
high fuel pressure, leaking injectors after 19years of service?
the operators guide, tells you how to clear a flood.
gas foot to floor, cuts fuel in the EFI by logic, (hard logic in ECU)
the only way to fix the car, is to diagnosis it while FAILED!
99% of others will be disappointed, I promise.
when you ask them to guess, it fails mostly, and will be very expensive
these parts and the huge labor costs doing tests all in vane.
all just a wasted.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck

i would try a radiator, when it does start, take the positive battery cable off the battery, if the car dies, its your alternator\

When your mechanic re-installs your lightbulbs again, make sure he does not touch the end of the bulb lens because doing that will make them blow out from oil on the hands. After the bulbs are reinstalled, check to see that they are securely into place. Wiggle or move them by gently grabbing the locking base ring and moving it up and down. If you have any slight movement then you will need to use black electrical tape wrapped around the base of your light bulb to prevent extra vibration and this will stop them from moving.

check battery cables make sure they are clean and tight and make sure the alternator charging battery. first check battery volts. should be 12.6 volts. with engine running alternator out put at battery should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts. if not either alternator failed.check alternator power feed wires and voltage regulator wires for damage or make sure electrical wires has tight connection.check alternator battery.first turn off radio before before disconnecting negative battery cable.
