SOURCE: I need a brake line diagram for a 1997 Ford

Try to get the service manual from Ford for your vehicle. Many times Haynes and Chilton won't publish it, because there is a certain flexibility in the way lines can be routed, underneath the vehicle in question.

The brakes may cross over left front to right rear and right front to left rear as far as being connected in circuits by the master cylinder.

Some GM trucks use a front to back system where the two front wheels are on a circuit and the two back wheels are on a circuit, but this is antiquated.

Actually, if you follow the routing of the brakes the way I described, you'll be able to put new lines on by copying what was there in the first place, assuming nobody has disassembled it since it was at the factory or what not.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: spongy brakes on a 1997 ford explorer 5.0 awd.

Hi, first of all it has nothing to do with the abs brakes...

If upon inspection the brake master cylinder is full of fluid, the brake master cylinder may be bypassing internally. This means the seals inside the master cylinder have failed allowing the fluid from the front of the master cylinder plunger to slip through to the rear of the plunger and back into the fluid reservoir. Allowing the brake pedal to go to the floor with out pressurizing brake fluid into the system. Replace master cylinder with new unit and bleed system as needed.

Air in Brake System - When brake calipers or rear wheel cylinders fail they can allow air into the system when the brake pedal is released. Bleed the brake system by loosening the air bleeder, if air is observed from the bleeder replace the caliper or wheel cylinder and re-bleed system. This condition is rare but it does happen..

First make sure the rear breaks are ajusted or replaced when worn out drum to be skeemed aswell. Usally whe rear brakes are ajusted hand break will stop car on two to four clicks on hand brake rachet. If brakes is ajusted check cables for wear . Then ajust cable insite car remove hand brake cover and you will see a ajustable screw or nut. Rememeber to put the handbrake on four clicks and dont tighten screw or nut to much the brakes will lock

Ajusting hanbrake ford au111 2002 falcon

Hi Shannon, There is an ajustment nut at the base of the hand brake it's self, you pull the cover strait off the end of the handle and it is a 10mm nut on a treaded piece of metal rod/cable. If it's as tight as it can get you may need new brake boots for you handbrake. Just checked ebay and they are $66 plus postage for a set :)

Remember righty tighty lefty loosie :p
hope this helps :)

2000 ford explorer linkage cable . Can it be ajusted ?

same problem with my 1998 Ford Expedition, there was a lot of free play on the shift gear handle and therefore had trouble finding the gears, all of them. I looked under the the steering wheel or steering column (by the top of the brake pedal) and found that there were two screws loose, about to fall off actually, tighten both of them up and now is as good as when I drove it off the lot. Hope this helps.

Replace rear brakes adjust handbrake

The hand brake hardly ever needs ajusting. See your hand brake mechanincly spreads your rear brake shose inside the drum. Therefore just replace your rear shoes and make sure there ajusted right and you should have no more problems with that part of your car. PS make sure you put some 3M paste on the contact points on your backing plate to avoid a squeak in the near future.

ounds like you have a air leak via the vacuum system of the brakes ie servo / inlet manifold get the car to a garage to have it insoected unless you now someone in the trade that can look at it for you but it sounds to me like that or have a second person handy open the bonnet and start the car press the brake and visually see if anything is catching the cable or listen for leaks ie hissing noises
