Unstable RPM and not sure what's the cause of it.

Has to be something in the fuel delivery system. The more fuel you give the engine the faster it turns and vice versa so it has to be something in this area. Could the fuel pump be operating erratically and have erratic pressure - that could be it.

Bearing has collapsed, fan is wobbling and unstable

Yes you must remove the timing belt and gear to remove the water pump. I always recommend a new timing belt as part of the repair. Regards, Joe

I have a C Class 230, 2007 with 27K miles. Owned

Let me understand that the problem is intermittent and engine is cranking but not started. For that being said, there are 2 main things to check.
1-The start is not on since there is not fuel delivered to the Fuel distribution. Fuel pump is controlled by the pump relay. But the pump relay is activated by the a fuel pump control module which is an electronics integrated module. This is the one gives unstable condition.
2- The start is not on since there is no electric signal to deliver to the primary coil. And this one is controlled by the ignition module. This is an integrated electronic module can give unstable condition.
The last thing to check is the Crank shaft sensor condition since it has to give the signal for the above 2 things to work. Good luck

Buick skylark 3100 unstable idle

Unstable idle can be caused by a vaccum leak. Best way to find a vaccum leak I have found is to
take a tube ( fuel hose or 1/4 inch vaccum line 2 or 3 ft long ) and put one end to your ear and use
the other end to probe around the engine intake manifold area and where ever vaccum lines connect
as well as along each vaccun line to ck for breaks or splits. Another method is to use WD40 to spray
around manifold an vaccun lines. This method usually will ( if there is a leak ) stablize the idle and
cause the idle to increase. Or you can use carb cleaner or startind fluid but these are quite volital and
can cause a fire. So be very careful how you use them. The WD 40 is unlikely to catch fire that is why I RECOMEND IT. With the tube method you will hear a hissing or sucking sound when you find a vaccun leak. Good luck.
