On idle its cherry. It's when I'm on the freeway that the tail pipe starts popping.

SOURCE: popping noise out of the tail pipe

From your discription I think you have a cylinder fireing on an open valve. Meaning the valve is not closing completely as it should before detonation. Then cause could be anything from a burnt valve to carbon build up.

SOURCE: my car want start and it is making a popping sound

That means it is back firing. Check your timing belt. You can take the front protection cover off and you should be able to see it. Your vehicle may be out of time and that would cause a backfire. Your rotor may not be turning. If you have a question, let me know and I will help you as much as I can.

Exhaust leak in 2005 dodge neon seams to be in front how can i find it and fix it

Since you wired up the muffler most likely the break is around the muffler. Easiest way to find it is to put it in park, have a helper rev the engine to say 1500-2000rpm, then from under the car move your hand around different areas and you'll feel the exhaust coming out where the leak is. Just make sure you don't touch the exhaust or you'll get burned, just place your hand near the pipes not on them!

Tail pipe making loud popping noise while idling

Sounds like it's back firing. Check your timing belt. If it has issues get it changed immediatly. If the belt slips far enough you can destroy your valves.

popping sound tells me more then likely it's burning fuel in your tail pipe and not completly in your motor. when was the last time you did a tune up? you know, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor?
