SOURCE: remove alternator from car 2002 ford focus

Yeah, if you take those studs out for the alternator it is a big help, I recall that there are 3 of them. Once those are out of the way, you can squeak the alt out by the side of the exhaust manifold if you flatten down the heat shield first. You'll have just enough room to get it out. Good luck!!

This method worked on a 2005 Ford Focus ZXW.

SOURCE: 2000 Ford Ranger Alternator

have the alt tested there not very good do you have 12 volts going to the big wire on the alt and with key on you should have it to a small wire going to the regulator to turn it on

You unbolt the alternator. Unclip the fans from the rad. Let the fans drop down without unbolting anything. Pull the alt out from the top. Its that easy.... Install is opposite.

Replacing alternator

It's not too bad of a job. First, disconnect the negative battery cable, then push on the belt tensioner with a wrench or a bar or whichever is suitable, then slip the belt off the alternator. Disconnect the wiring from the alternator, then unbolt the brackets and mounting bolts from the alternator, then remove the alternator from the engine. It may be easier to access the wiring on the back of the alternator if you unbolt the coil pack and move it out of the way a little bit first. Good luck.

Does the alternator get removed from the bottom of the vehicle, or through the top of the vehicle? I have a 2005 ford focus with a 2.0l dohc 4cyl.

The alternator comes out from the bottom. It requires unbolting the engine mount and shifting the engine forward to wiggle the alternator out. You might need an assistant for this step.

Replace alternator

UNHOOK GROUND WIRE FROM BATTERY! UNBOLT THE WIRES FROM THE BACK OF ALTERNATOR! THEN THERE SHOULD BE A TOP, AND BOTTOM BOLT TO THE ALTERNATOR! REMOVE THE TOP ONE, AND PUSH ALTERNATOR TO LOOSEN BELT! REMOVE BELT, AND UNBOLT BOTTOM! WATCH FOR A SHIM, AS YOU REMOVE THE OLD ALTERNATOR! IT WILL BE AT THE BOTTOM BOLT! SOME HAVE IT, AND SOME DON'T! ONCE IT IS OUT, PUT THE NEW ONE IN, THE BOTTOM BOLT WILL GO IN FIRST, AND TIGHTEN IT DOWN! THEN PUT THE WIRES ON THE BACK, AND TIGHTEN THEM DOWN! PLACE THE BELT BACK ON THE PULLEY, AND THEN YOUR READY TO PUT THE TOP BOLT IN, AND TIGHTEN THE BELT, THEN TIGHTEN THE BOLT! AND FINALLY HOOK THE BATTERY BACK UP, START THE CAR, AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT'S CHARGING! YOU'RE DONE!

How to change a alternator on 98 honda accord v6, 3.0

Shut off engine and let it cool down. Remove the alternator bolts. This will loosen belt and allow you to remove alternator. Disconnect and label wires. Have a helper help you install new alternator while tightening belt. You need about 1/8 inch slack on the belt. You can purchase a belt tension tool to help you measure. Tighten alternator bolts and plug wires. Turn on engine and check that battery holding steady voltage.

How do i change the alternator on a 1998 mitsubishi montero sport

Disconnect the battery negative cable.
Remove 12mm (3) and 14mm (4) bolts holding skidplate on and remove skidplate
Loosen the 14mm nut on the tensioner, then unscrew the tensioner adjuster bolt until the belt can slide off.
Unplug the alternator electrical connector.
Unbolt the alternator cable lug (12mm or 13mm depending on alternator manufacturer)
Remove lower 12mm bolt
Remove upper 14mm pivot bolt
Use large screwdriver to pry alternator off bracket, it pinches on when the pivot bolt is tightened.
Drop alternator out bottom of engine bay; helps to unbolt or bend transmission cooler lines out of the way.

My 2003 Ford Taurus idles very rough and will die at stops if my a/c or heat is on. Don' know why?

When was your last tune up? Change spark plugs, Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail 30psi.
How many miles on car? Have alternator checked out. If you need and alternator your looking at $900 and up its not easy to change. You have to move power steering pump out of the way to unbolt the top bolt. Then you have to take the right side tire off pop the balljoints, then pull the axle to unbolt the other two bolts and pull alternator out at the bottom where the axle was.

hi there rowdyrottie best way to do alternator on these is to remove drivers headlamp by removing torx screws once thats out of way make a note on how alt belt goes on,once you have done that remove both 13 or 15mm nuts on top partt of alternator next unbolt 15mm bolt at bottom of alternator once removed disconnect wires from alternator you should be able to remove alternator from bracket if you can't you'll have to remove long bolt going into a bracket with torx socket or a good pair of vice grips once bolt is removed alternator will come out this should be done in just a matter of fitting new alternator & build back up.
