Question about Mercedes-Benz Cars & Trucks
When starting the car after it hasn't been used for a couple of days, the is a really strong smell of petrol and fuel leakage that puddles on the road. Starting it again in the same day, there is no leakage or smell. A garage replaced a very rusty fuel line and replaced the clips with screw clips, but still leakage. Does anyone have any advice? Many thanks, Lily

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Well you mechanic has obviously not done his job , on some cars there is a vent tube that runs ajacent to the main filler tube there may be a breach in the rubber hose or where it connects, but more than likely the purge canister located in the engine compartment is faulty not allowing the gas tank to vent, have the purge canister checked.

If the fuel system is dumping too much fuel into the cylinders, the check engine light should be on and you should be able to get trouble codes from the computer. The codes would point you in the direction of the problem.
Is the light on ?
