SOURCE: 2000 windstar check engine light come on moter

If you live in the US, take it into an Auto zone store and they will read off the stored codes for you. Once you have the codes you can decide on a course of action.
Other major auto parts outlets may offer the same service, as they all want your parts business. Give them a call.

Hope this is of some help.

SOURCE: smoke from engine

Is the smoke white or blue? If white means that you have a leak of water or antifrezze into the combustion chamber. If blue, replace PCV valve, and air filter.

Obviously a short is what you're dealing with. If you can take the cover that goes over the steering column so you can see the wires you will probably be able find where the short is occuring. Look for sharp metal around the wires or points where the insulation has been wore off.

Good Luck

SOURCE: 1989 mustang gt 5.0 fuel

Was looking at posts and other sites. I take it that some relays are even under seats. Anyway, Apparently the ECU relay and the ECC relay are linked. When properly operating the ECC brain sends a signal to the ECC relay and the ground wire is tan/green. The brain can be throwing the signal and the relay terminals are not receiving the signals, so the relays cannot switch.

Although you have replaced some relays, you need to check your plugins for these 2 relays.

Have the engine properly inspected as it may be a engine failure due to big end failure causing a hole in the engine block.

Won't turn over at all

I would be checking for the main lead to the battery /starter to ensure that it has not burnt though on the exhaust or has not worn through and been shorting out. The clicking noise would ne the solenoid moving but the current is not getting to the starter. Check the condition of the battery. Shorting of the cable will take the current away from the electrics so the engine would stop. The battery will have to be load tested to ensure that it has not been damaged.

Hello,

Okay--I am thinking about several things here. Electrical fire; engine failure; coolant system leak. Visual inspection--look at the wires on the engine, do they appear melted or are any of the wire casings soft? Check the fluids for the engine (e.g.-oil coolant) if you have water in your oil or coolant is black you could have blown a head gasket. There are some hoses on the firewall side that go into the block or intake manifold, check them for tears, cracks, etc. After you have diagnosed the problem a little more--re-post.

The only way to diagnose Evap issue is with
a scan tool,evap smoke machine & schematic
of the system your working on.

You should have the codes & googed them by now
& have those taken car of

All you can do without the vehicle is speculate
& guess

Low idle and white smoke from ehaust

Is the check engine light on,? The white smoke can some times have to do with a defective oxagen sensor, That can all so mess up the idle, Or the white smoke could have to do with a blowin head gasket,

Hi Carolyn

It sounds bad I have to be honest, you most likely blew the head gasket when the rad leaked, did the car overheat at all? did the smoke have a sweet smell to it or was it think smoke like oil etc please clarify

2004 f 250 diesel smokeing and losing power

Is the check engine light on? Any more specific info like year, make, model, what color the smoke is, how many miles, etc........ This could help to narrow down the problem other than the smoke which all diesels do with quick acceleration. You might get a quicker answer if you are more detailed!

Electrical Problems

Do not leave the car in the garage without the battery disconnected until you locate the source of the smoke, the best tool to find the smoke's source is your nose, smell the area around the source of the smoke, if you smell a really nauseating smell you found it, then look for signs of burnt wires or burnt components, also look for any oil that may have caused the smoke, but I doubt that was the source, this sounds electrical. I know of no problems for your car that would cause this, so most likely it is not a common problem.
