Trans. modulator on a 93 g20 van ?

Depends on the type of transmission in the van. Most late model transmissions use electronic shift solenoids to control shift points. If the transmission in this van has a modulator valve, it is located on the passenger side of the van near the middle of the transmission with a vacuum hose attached to it.

-17 degrees centigrade started van drove in reversed for 10 seconds after which van would not move with engine idling and transmission in gear move transmission lever to drive van would not move. Move...

Most likely in this severe weather the fluid and the bands in the transmission need time to circulate and warm up. It is a good idea in severe weather to allow a vehicle to warm up for at least 4 - 6 minutes before driving it. Remember that oils and lubricants get very thick in cold weather.

I have a 2000 GMC safari van 2-wheel drive. When it shifts to 3rd it seems to jump into neutral. What can cause this? Changed transmissions and it is doing the same thing

My local transmission specialst tells me that ALL GM van transmissions run hot. Especially within the Safari/Astro design - that doesn't reflect the wind very well (compared to today's smaller mini-vans). He recommends ATF aux cooler (LPD Design) be installed in all Safari / Astro vans - even non-towing vans. For example, Hayden 678 or 679 LPD design.

re: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HDA-678/

If wondering, I installed Hayden 679 in my prev AWD Safari van and installed Hayden 678 in my wife's smaller size GM mini-VAN. re: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w251/Spike99-Pictures/Montana%20Van/AuxTransC- ooler-UpperSupport-2.jpg &http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w251/Spike99-Pictures/Montana%20Van/AuxTransC- ooler-LowerSupport-1.jpg

As a suggestion, install the LPD aux cooler design (re: Tru-cool or Hayden 678 or 679) in your "running hot" GM van. These ATF coolers work great in my GM vans...

19how do i take out my transmission on a 1997 plymouth voyager mini van ?

remove the air cleaner assembly to remove the upper bell housing bolts.you need a engine support fixture to support the engine, you have to raise van with a lift to support van, besure to remove crankshaft position sensor from the transmission bell housing.you have to drain transmission fluid in a catch pan, remove both front axles.you need transmission jack support transmission.to do this job you will need a haynes repair manual because you have a list of things need to be removed before removing transmission, you need all basic mechanic tool set.

I GET A LOUD WHINING SOUND AFTER I RUN THE ENGINGE FOR AWHILE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE WHINE GOES WITH THE SPEED OF THE VAN.

You are probably right about the transmission being the noise. These vans are famous for transmission problems. Have it checked at a transmission shop.

2001 Dodge Caravan Transmission Question.

IF your van is front wheel drive only, the transmission is indeed a 3 speed A413. If your van is all wheel drive, your transmission is a 4 speed A604. Capacity is 4 quarts or so.
