Bad contacts in the ignition lock cylinder.
Try shutting down the remote start then see if it does it. Pull the fuses for the remote start.
Do you know if it has passkey or passlock? Did you bypass the security system when you installed the remote start or use a bypass module?
If it has a resistor in the key it is passkey. I'll have to look up the wiring so you can check the passkey module. Sounds like it isn't sending the 5 volt reference.

i thought that too. but it even does it with my remote start alarm system.
it isnt the remote start. im a 3 year electronics tech for mobile one and do all my own istalls. the security problem was occuring long before i instlled the remote start.
yes. i even isolated the resistor that i installed with a relay. it has passlock 2.
thanx . that would realy help. i tryed to do that but didn't even know where to start.
I too have an 01 Buick Century with an after market remote start that has exactly the same problem. I purchased a VAT Bypass from Ebay. I haven't installed it yet. Most say its the Cylnder contact but i figuired with a remote start it would elimiate that possibility. Maybe its not detecting the right key when being driven and the next time won't start?
