Changing gear at high rpm

I gave my 2001 ford AU Fairlane v8 an oil and filter change and also cleaned out the throttle body. ever since i did this the vehicle now doesn't change into 2nd gear until 2.500 rpm, 3rd at 2.800rpm and have not yet managed to get it into 4th gear. it also feels like it has lost power. it also has no 1st gear when manually selecting. When i put the car back together and drove it out of the work shop, it was running for about a minute and then it started making a wining noise for about a minute, I could not find out where the noise was coming from. Any help would be much appreciated

Sounds as if there is a cable not connected back on the throttle body's accelerater cable part. There should be one connect there coming from the transmission. I don't normally work on your model car as I am in the US but another thing you should do after cleaning the thottle body and plate id to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes so the computer can relearn its idle. If you cleaned the throttle plate of carbon build up it now will close differently but your vehicles computer is still set at the old setting throught the throttle position sensor. This won't cause your problem but it should be done. Also check the throttle position sensor connector.

SOURCE: my car stutters when i drive in high rpm? i

Best thing to do is go to Auto Zone and have the car scanned for any DTC codes, There are just to many things that can be causing your engine to stutter on high RPM'S. Keep me posted and we can go from there, If your running a performance oiled air filter like K&N, buy some MAF sensor cleaner and give it a good cleaning. Also check your TPS for damaged wire or a faulty TPS it self. Good luck, be glad to help.

When i start my 2001 ford taurus it idles high for a short time then goes to normal

That is because the transmission is timed with the throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve on automatic transmissions. If the position sensor starts to fail you will have usually high, low, or erratic throttle and it will act as if the transmission is slipping. Have a mechanic clean your throttle body, replace the gasket, change the IAC motor, and throttle position sensor. Its what they should do to your car anyway for a full tune up but its rare anyone does it anymore. So i always do my own and you definitely feel the difference

I have 2004 Ford Explorer. I gave my truck an oil change and also chg the air filter. After I was done for some reason. My truck turns on, but it just idles, but I hit the gas and nothen happens. I hit...

check to make sure that you have not dislodged any plugs to any sensors.while replacing the air filter you may have unplugged the air flow meter plug.or even the throttle body control, that would be rare though.
Things do fault even when we are working on something else but I would concentrate on anything you may have pulled off without realising,or dislodged with your arms etc.hope this helps or get back to me with your findings.

What does a major tune up for a 2004 chevy impala consist of? What should be done and needs to be done?

New spark plugs, oil and oil filter, transmission flush and fill, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush and fill, clean throttle body plate and bore, clean the MAF sensor, replace any loose or cracked vacuum lines, PCV valve, new air filter, new battery.

99% of the time all you should ever need for a tune up is new spark plugs, and a clean air filter and throttle body. But since your inquiry indicated "major" I gave it more critical thought.

2001 ford escort, rough idle, runs smooth while driving, but tries to die at every stop-replaced vacuum lines, plugs, wires, etc.- nothing has worked

Your IAC may be defective, first check the canister purge valve by removing the large hose off the charcoal canster and plugging the hose with a bolt or something you can fit into it, then try it also check PCV valve and see if it's bad. there are more things to check like fuel filter fuel pump and or fuel strainer if fuel tank but would need to have more information to help.

1996 jimmy failed an emission test

Did you change the air filter. The fuel filter will have no impact on emmision's but the air filter is a very common problem. If you usually drive it at low rev.'s then before you send it for emmisions test you will need to put it in a low gear and floor it for about a mile the reason is when it is being tested the engine is reved up to around 3500 rpm and any build up of unburned fuel or oil in the exhaust system will put up the emmisions reading.

Idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.
