MX5 HARDTOP SQUEEKING

We have just purchased a beautiful MX5 (55plate) with a hardtop. It is absolutely fab although there is some squeeking coming from what appears to be the area where the seals are at the back of the hardtop roof. We have sprayed it with silicon which did alleviate the problem for a couple of days, but now the noise is back. Any ideas???

Try baby powder, sprinkler a little on the car and on the seal wipe off the silicone first

Try using a thicker lubricant...The stickiest is chain & bar oil for chainsaws. Not good for internal stuff like engines or gearsets but really good on external parts.(locks, hinges etc) I keep a hypodeemic nerdle full of it in my tool box!!! (use it on firearms and fishing reels too!!!)

2010 BMW 3 Series 328i Sedan. Hardtop - raising and lowering.

There are lot of videos in this link. Opening and closing an electric or hydraulic hardtop is always going to be difficult because they are so heavy. I had a friend with and Xi5 and he had the soft top / hard top option and he had pulleys and a winch to lower the hardtop because it was only just manageable for 2 people to lift.

The best plan is to get it fixed for automatic operation.
