I have a 1984 Camaro Z28 and the gas gauge has decided to quit working, any ideas?
Float arm in the tank is either stuck or broken. its connected to the fuel pump assembly
After changing the fuel sending unit the guage still did not work. There is a test with a rheostat for the guage intself. By hooking up a rheostat at the wire plug by the tank you can test the guage by adjusting the resistance. The guage is supposed to be a 240 ohm guage. Your readings of 0-240 ohn should make your guage go up or down. I suggest you make this test before you change the sending unit. you can also test the sending unit with an ohm meter by unplugging the float and adding more gas to the tank to see if the ohm value changes properly. I think the ohm value should be in the 0-95 ohm range.
