My 2003 Chevrolet cavalier was running great then all of a sudden this morning it wouldn't start for about 5 minutes. Once I got it started , it sounded like the engine was winding as I was trying to accelerate but it wouldn't go over 20 mph and I got a strong smell of gas. Thanks!

lt is one of two possibilities ignition switch or starter solinoid.....

Many possible causes....Too little info to make an intelligent suggestion. Try charging the problem vehicle's battery with jumper cables for 2 minutes with the supply vehicle running at fast idle (or about 1500-2000 RPM, if it is tachometer equipped) before you try to crank the problem vehicle on a cold morning. If it starts right up, you likely have a weak battery that needs replacing.

blows WHICH fuse?

There is a fuse for the fuel pump under the hood, check that first. If the fuse is okay then possibly it's the fuel pump.

It's kind of something telling you that your battery shot. The battery isn't pushing out enough amperage to have things properly function. Replace the battery if the car will not start again after running for about 2 minutes

Ignition control Module out again? Over energized?

If it is the fuel pump,you can get an inline electric one for about $60 and use it till you can afford the other.

Have you checked for spark at the plugs?

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems
