How to check if there is spark on 94 jeep cherokee

Car would die, i could start it back up, then ran ok for a couple days. Then used the jeep and it died while running, now will not start. Fuel pump is pumping and fuel filter is ok. I dont know if there is spark. Need fuel, spark, and air to run, I dont think it is getting spark. any ideas would be awesome.

U pull a spark plug wire off, then stick a plastic handle screwdriver into the end of the plug wire and hold it next to metal of the engine, have someone crank the engine over and you will hear and see a spark

I have a 94 grand jeep cherokee 4.0 ltr. Out of no where my jeep would vibrated then shut off and wouldnt start back up. I replaced the fuel pump and it still didnt start right away so i let it sit over...

I would check the computer for trouble codes and the fuel pressure with a gauge. When it won't start you will need to find out if it is fuel or ignition related to proceed.

94 Jeep wont start running after 3 seconds.

It could be the security system or maybe a crank sensor.

94 jeep grand cherokee with a 5.2...starts then dies in a couple of seconds. someone already took the alarm out of it so what now? has spark and fuel? checked all the sensors...nothing that I can...

First thing I'd check is each and every wire where the alarm had been attached. if it was aftermarket, there will be tape on the ignition harness. remove tape and check that each wire still is connected, then re-tape. If it was a factory alarm, it would be good to find out what exactly was done by the person that removed it. What was eliminated, jumped etc.
Otherwise go over entire ignition and fuel system using standard tests outlined in manuals. It may be a "normal failure" that can be diagnosed.

My 94 jeep cherokee started ran for a minute or 2 and stopped

i would suggest checking to see if you are getting fuel by disconnecting the fuel line at the fuel rail and turn key if no fuel then its either fuel pump or fuel filter. if you get fuel then it would be the spark

94 Jeep Grand Cherokee heater coil has been replaced wont start

If you have a security system, close all the doors and then lock the drivers door with the key, then unlock it. That should re-set the system. I've had the computer completely disconnected from mine several times (used it to check another vehicle) and I don't have security...it started and ran fine...only difference between the two is the security so I'd try that.

93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Won't start

The crankshaft position sensor was seriously problematic in those old jeeps. It's located towards the top of the bell housing slightly to the driver's side I think.

1996 jeep cherokee not starting

The most common cause is usually the crank sensor, but at this point I would not jump to conclusions without testing it as well as all electrical connections pertaining to the ignition system etc anyone can fix a problem by just changing everything but thats not the best way to go!

'93 Grand Cherokee intermittently starts and runs

Hi, I had simmilar problem with my 1993 JGC . I ran out of gas and it would not start until the next day. Then it will start and run until I put the brakes on tho stop and then it will die. It starts right back up. Ended up being the voltage regulator in the ECC/ECM. It is at the mechanics shop right now waiting for the ECC to come in.I will post a follow up.
have Fun,
