You could always go to your local library, and look at the car manuals that are located there, if you don't want to go to an Auto parts store and buy your self a manual for about 25 bucks.. (that's what I did) - A Chiltons...

2001 Lincoln Continental. What wires from the module carry the power to the fuel pump please?

Question edited for clarity and typos, 'modular' > 'module'.

Also check the relay. You can put a pair of wires from the battery to fuel pump to test.

Water temperature sensor

those are pretty much generic. there are ptc and ntc meanig resistance goes up or down with temperature. most are the ones that go up with temperature. try an aftermarket guage manufacture sender you may need to install with a pipe bushing to make it fit the hole and you may have to change the wire connector to hook it up but it will work and be pretty close to the right reading on the guage

1979 Lincoln Continental Town car has a rough idle (400 cid). I have checked the timing and replaced the spark plugs and wires along with cap and rotor? What else could cause a smooth idle then a heavy...

I"d lean toward the dirstributor itself. You were right to check the timing but a balky distributor would cause occaisional mis-fires. Apart from that, the timing chain itself would be the next likely culprit.
