When getting on the gas transmission dogs and bumps 87 camaro 2.8
Very slow not running near as good as it should.
seems like transmission is either working to hard or not hard enough which is causing it to dog. what could this be?

I believe you have a transmission mount that is bad, possibly and engine mount. When you are shifting the engine will raise and bump the firewall, floorpan.
Good luck
If the moudulator (vacuum controlled) is bad it will stay in low,Not sure what tranny, but if it has a vacuum line going to it ,start there,if you pull the vac. line off and fluid drips out ,it's bad.
If a 700r 4 speed ,Pull the cover for the governor (should have a wire clip over it,like a master cyl clip ,kinda) It's just pressed into the housing. A small amount of fluid will leak out. Just grab the governor by the end and pull it out ,The gear on the end is plactic,if it's "applecored" the governor can't work. I've replaced mine a few times.
Oh yea ,check the kickdown cable first, make sure ,if you pull on it ,you can feel the spring pressure aginst it as you get to the end.
Fuel pressure? Do you hear the fuel pump running? Read the codes to see if ECM is still alive. Do you have spark at the plugs? Remember all motors need 3 things to run air, fuel, and fire at the right time.
check your transmission fluid level. see if it's burned. you can try changing transmission fluid, but only half at a time. If you change all your fluid at once, you could blow some seals on older vehicles.
Take it to a transmission shop that has a Tech 2 scanner. The tech 2 scanner will not only scan the transmission but can also recalibrate the shift points. Other reason to why it wont shift under WOT it low transmission fluid pressure so check the fluid level and have a pressure test done on the line.
The 4L60E is a great transmission but there are some things that don't work well with them like some shift kits. The ECM is program the shift points which get's messed up if done wrong. best upgrade on the 4L60E was to swap out the servos for corvette servos or after market performance one's all for under $100.00 and in most case better then a after market shift kit.
Good luck and hope this help. take care not to burn up the transmission.
SOUNDS LIKE A VACUM LEAK,POSSIBLY INTAKE GASKET OR VACUM HOSES,GET SOME BERKIBLE 2+2 SPRAY DOWN INTAKES WHERE MEET HEAD AROND THROTTLE BODY AND ALSO EGR VALVE TO MAKE SURE IT ISN'T PARTAILY STUCK OPEN, VACUM LINES AIR INTAKE HOSE BETWEEN THROTTLE BODY AND AIR FLOW METER,ALSO MAKE SURE ITS NOT DRY ROTTED AND SUCKING AIR,THE ENGINE IDLE SHOULD GO UP OR DOWN DEPENDING HOW BIG THE LEAK
no it is not there are different parameters associated with the 2 different years. the 92 also controls alot more functions than the 87 did so to interchange the 2 will not work
have you ck the catalatic converter it could be plug up?go to a muffler shop an have them test the catalatic converter the problem mightnot be youre transmission.let me know
