My diagnostics reader gave me no code. What is the difference compared to the service engine soon light?
The difference is the yellow wrench is a mantinence required light it doesent mean there is a problem its a reminder to get service like oil changes . Everytime you get an oil change the tech has to reset the mantinence light . The reset instructions are in the owners manual
That lights up at certain mileage intervals usually around 50,000--75,000 100,000 and so on it doesn't mean that the part is bad it just means that certain things should be replaced or cleaned so the dealer can get you to bring it in .the service manual will tell you what it calls for at what mileage then the dealer can turn it off or you can once you look it up in a manual.
Hello
When the service engine
soon light a yellow light (Also called the check engine light or
engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the
fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a
failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any
difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission
or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the
modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have
the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an
OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once
the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each
code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the
diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint"
testing.

The diagnostics tester that I used is the Snap-On ,Solus. My car manual doesn't tell me how to reset the Service Soon light.
what kind of diagnostics tester do you have?
