My diesel doesnt have power when i give it gas.

My 2002 chevy 2500hd turbo diesel doesnt have the "get up and go" when i give it a fair amount of gas. You can here the turbo winding up but when she gets to about 3000rpms it doesnt go anywhere just screams down the road, i changed the fuel filter but it still has the problem, im thinking it might be the fuel injectors. Thanks.

How many miles, these have a injector failure at around 100000 or so. Most were covered under warranty. If you get a lot of black smoke out the tailpipe while at idle or at a lght, its your injectors...

2002 Duramax with high miles, 335k. Truck was running fine then on the way out of the driveway heard a loud "pop", engine lost power but continued to run. Now, I hear a turbo whine I didnt hear before when...

Start at the turbo and check for loose or blown air lines . Check the intercooler for cracks. The turbo whine is normal but you would not be hearing it as the turbo is controlled to vary the amount of boost needed for the throttle setting. If you have to use starting fluid to start a diesel then it is time to consider a re-ring and bearings for the engine.

We have a 2002 Chevy 3/4 HD Duramax that is blowing out blue smoke. Mileage is 371,256 Any ideas

You will need to have the injectors and injector seals checked and if it is a turbo you will also need to have the turbo seals checked.

Where is the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor located on a 2002 2500HD with a 6.6 Duramax Diesel?

The intake air temperature sensor on a 6.6L diesel is part of the mass air flow sensor, located just outside the air filter housing, in the intake air snorkle going to the engine. The other one is for the turbo system and is located directly at the top of the engine in the inlet pipe for the turbo. This on is the intake temperature heater / sensor, and will set a totally different code relating to the turbo. The one you want is incorporated with the MAF sensor. Usually code P0101 sets.

mcdevito75 here, The fuel pump should be in the gas tank. Change the fiel filter before condming the fuel pump. You may also have to drain a little water out of the gas tank. Your local repair shop can check this out.
