Question about 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
I replaced the transfer case fluid and tried to reset the Service 4wheel drive warning light, the same process of resetting the oil life. Somehow ,Im still getting the Service 4wheel drive light appearing on my console.
Is there any different way to reset the Service 4wheel drive light? Can I reset the warning light by disconnecting the negative cable on my battery?
Please advice or any info you can forward will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have a 2005 Tahoe that recently had a similar problem. To resolve, I did the following.

Every gm truck/suv that is four wheel drive between 2000-2007 has a tranfer case pump casing defect the pressure plate does not sit tightly in the housing causing it to wear a hole in upper part of the transfewr case that only leake when your driving and you will not notice unless you look on top for fluid thats soaked in dust and dirt merchant automotive has a upgraded pressure plate that sits tightly in the housing fixing the problem

I had the same problem and the Chevy Dealership had to replace my 4X4 encoder box...cost was about $324.00 with labor and all.
