Sounds like your brake light switch is sticking-its located under the dash and if you dont do any of your own mechanical work its a good idea to take it somewhere you trust. the part isnt a real expensive one but the labor is going to be the major part of the cost. Most shops charge at least a 1/2 hr of labor @ $80 per hr.

All vehicle brake lights use a switch to determine if the lights are on or off. This switch, known as a stoplight switch, consists of a plunger-style button that breaks and completes a circuit. When the brake pedal is pressed, the plunger comes outward, completes the circuit and the lights turn on. There are several faults that can make your brake lights stay on. The circuit may go bad and remain completed, or the rubber stopper on the brake pedal stalk could fall off or come apart. If nothing is keeping the plunger pressed in, the circuit remains open.

One of two things can indicate a defective or out of adjustment brake light switch, the brake lights remain on all the time. The brake lights do not work and you have power to the brake light switch.

ck the bulbs, have any bulbs been replaced recently, could have the wrong bulb installed in the brake light socket.

the parking brake light is the one on the dash so the switch by the foot pedal for the emergency brake is at fault

Brake light switch is bad or out of adjustment. It's mounted under the dash and is pressed to the off condition when the brake pedal is at rest. Look under the dash and follow the pedal arm up to the pivot and you will see or feel it. It is active with the ignition off.

Most likely the switch for it is jamming in closed position.

did you check the brake pedal switch? it located on the top of the brake pedal. good luck
