I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. The rear a/c stopped blowing cold air, however, it still blows heat. When set to a cold temp it blows room temp. Now my front a/c has stopped blowing. While it is still cold and hot when the temp is adjusted (I can feel it eeking out of the vents), the blower seems to have failed in front. Is it common to have two completely different problems like this with the heat/ac? Has anyone experienced this type of problem and what do you think it should avg, $? I know someone who is somewhat mechanically inclined, is it something that can be done w/o going to a shop/dealer?
This is something best done by a qualified repair shop . An yes it can have two different problems , not related ! Blower motors do go bad , or a control processor . Does it have manual or automatic HVAC . It would be to your benefit to have someone like this guy diagnose the problem . This is not for a rookie to try !
Diagnosing rear problems

Notorious for plugged heater cores. Also updated plastic restriction couplers mounted at heater core available from dealer. Try back flushing heater core. Run engine till its at operating temperature then carefully hold the inlet and outlet hose breifly with heater fan on high if hoses are nearly the same temp then flow is good , if not then core is plugged.

ase mechanic:
there are separate actuators for the blend doors. one for heat and one for cool. they work opposite and in conjuction with each other, if that makes any sense. ones open, ones close, for each different climate. sounds like the the cold one isn't opening in the rear.

Its more then likely the temp door broken or temp door motor broken/stuck. There is 2-3 of these motors under the dash on the side of the evap/heater core box. Some require extensive labor to replace, good luck

the blend door actuator located on the air box (right hand side under dash) is prob. inop. worst case senerio the blend door its self is broken. I have replaced the actuator more than anything.

as long as all the fuses are good.. its probably the blower resistor/module... located next to the blower motor under the pass. side of the dash..
