My Eldorado stalled when coming to a stop sign. I placed the car in neutral and turned the key when rolling to restart the car. When turning the key I noticed a puff of smoke coming from under the hood and the motor and starter made absolutely no sound. There is no power going to anything now, lights, windows or anything. Could that smoke have been from my starter and if so what other problems would a dead starter cause?
You burned out a fusible link at the starter motor. The wiring is shorted to ground down there somewhere. Raise the car up and inspect for the damaged wiring and then replace the fusible link. The links are color codes for amperage, most are 30 amperes.

It could be a loose wire or connector, defective or dirty contacts in
the lock cylinder, broken wire coming from the lock cylinder or a
temperature sensitive module to name a few things.
If this happens only when the temperature is cold, it could be a leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR), or due to lost pressure in the fuel lines due to cold, in which case you may have to replace the fuel pump / fuel filter / clean injectors.
The best way to diagnose this is to actually take it to a mechanic and have him check for you.
Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions,
please post them here.

sound like the overheating of the engine did some internal damage. ethier an intake or head gasket or maybe even a warped or cracked head. worse case senero would be a cracked block. check the oil see if it looks milky like a grey sludge. most likely it is a head gasket. have a leak down test preformed to confirm. the labor for the head gaskets is 9 hours for 1 or 11.5 for 2. I would replace both and have the mechanic check the heads and block for cracks while he has it apart.

ignition switch. the one in the column where the key goes into. not exactly an easy replacement due to the airbag location as sometimes the mount screrws for the key switch retainer will be between the wheel and the column assembly requiring the wheel to be removed.

well sounds like the trany is slipping, make sure trany fluid is full and clean, also check engine light will reset when ignition is turned off but if you scan computer a code can be pulled to help in diagnosing this problem. start with checking the fluid and making sure its clean and full. good luck hope this is helpful.
