Car died. Cranks, but wont start. Codes P0328, P0340

2004 Xterra Manual Trans. Car stalled out at an intersection then wouldnt start back up. Cranks good, but wont fire. Had it towed home. I sprayed starting fluid in the air intake, but it still wont fire. Wasn't noticing any issues leading up to this, just seemed all of the sudden. Not sure if I killed the vehicle myself (stopped on an incline, manual trans.) or if it just died on its own. Either way, wont start back up. Distributor cap issue? Not a mechanic, just poor and desperate. Cant afford to have it towed to a shop and diagnosed. It's my only vehicle and now I'm stranded and can't get to work. UPDATE: Picked up a code reader. I get two codes: P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Bank 1 or single sensor) and P0328 (Knock sensor 1 circuit high bank 1 or single sensor). Are either of these codes possibly related to my issue? Also picked up a circuit tester, when cranking I get no voltage from wiring coming from distributor to spark plugs. Not a mechanic. Just learning on the fly because I can't afford a mechanic.

Yes, if the camshaft position sensor has failed, your vehicle won't start.

Car stalled and died. Cranks but wont start all of the sudden.

You will need to see if you are getting spark to the spark plug. You can remove plug cable a d insert a screw driver and place metal of screw driver within 1/8 of an inch from metal on engine or car. Have someone try to start the engine while watching the gap for spark. Make sure you have good connection in cable. If no spark, then it may be distributed.

On an incline that you stopped on, dont under estimate that if your low on fuel it may not be picked up by the fuel pump, or your fuel pump may have went out. If you run low on fuel often or up & down hill on low fuel will cause your fuel pump to burn out premature, they even say not to run less than a qrtr tank to be safe, but todays cost in fuel usually people wait till the last minute (gallon) which puts a strain on the fuel pump as the gas cools the motor and incline and decline in roads will mimic a low tank. What doesnt make sence is you sprayed starting fluid which should have fired for a few seconds, which brings you to spark issues, check you coil pack plugs and wires, most likely coil pack over plug and wires should still fire even if a plug or wire goes bad, but the coil pack controls the power going to the wire then plugs.

2005 Nissan Xterra (2wd) check engine light flashes then engine stalls at stop lights, driving fast or slow, puffs a little black smoke when check engine light flashes then stalls. Have to wait a minute...

Take it to a reputable independent repair shop that isn't a chain...that employees Master L-1 Technicians. Chain stores can barely change oil, let alone diagnose complicated issues.

1993 (2.0l 4 cyl) Ford Probe Wont Idle when warm.

Josh, Did you output the car's diagnostic codes before you reset the computer?
Just to confirm: your car has the "FS" engine - 1991cc double overhead cams?
built on the Mazda "GE" platform?
does your car have an "engine check light" or "MIL" on the dashboard? if so where and what does it look like and what does do ? ie: comes on when ignition is turned on & goes out after engine starts. or comes & goes out after x seconds. etc etc
are you 5sp manual or auto trans?

does your car have a diagnostic plug with a flip open lid just behind the battery near the front left suspension tower?
