1972 TH350 trans, recently R/B Just lost it's Reverse function, and possibly 1st. gear. Should I drop the trans or should I Pull the pan? And Where should I look for the problem? My linkage is good, and clicks into gear fine. But the reverse ''NO DICE''
If you just had it rebuilt should ba a warranty if is was im sure you wouldnt be on here asking so did you install new torque converter when the trans was rebuilt? check the trans filter not clogged how long did it run after the rebuild or did you install it yourself after the rebuild and it doesnt work ? let me just say the torque converter should always be replaced with the transmission new or rebuilt and when the transmission is being installed you have to make absolutely sure the converter is all the way back on the trans if not you will damage the front pump on trans and would need to replace it .

Acctually this is a 1972 Nova TH350 Trans, It has worked fine for years after a Major R/B. I installed it in a 39' Chevy so I know the basics and have checked out fluid, linkage and now I am unsure what to do next? Since my Reverse function and possible 1st gear may be out.. Sould I pull the trans pan and pull a valve body to look for a broken o-ring or something else? Or just drop the Trans. and play with it this way
Quick question, have you checked the fluid level since the tranny has been installed?
It could be the transmission modulator.
Start with the easy first. Check fluid level under normal engine temp. Shift through all the gears in the driveway or wherever you are parked.
Let me know what you find.
