Power seat on Lexus LX 450 will not go back.

Seat moves forward, tilts and goes up and down. Not sure if each movement has its own motor. How do I determine If its the motor or switch?

Thought I would swap switch from the other seat but not sure how to remove switch from seat. Tried prying it from seat but did not want to use too much pressure.

SOURCE: Drivers electic seat will not adjust

I just had the same problem. When the seat is powered all the forward, one of the worm drives reached the end of its travel and jammed against the threaded block that it passes through. To fix this the seat has to be unbolted and tipped back. There are four tiny 6mm bolts that hold the motor plate in. Remove these and the motor will come out. The worm drive is bolted in at one end and has a set pin at the other. Remove the worm drive and use a couple of vice grips or equivalent to loosen the threaded block from the worm drive.

SOURCE: 2000 Park ave - power seat problem

The electric adjustment motor has a drive-gear that engages a gear on the shaft of the adjustment screw (90 degree engagement). The gear on the adjustment shaft looses a tooth. Adjustment motor whines, drive gear on adjustment motor spins, no action though because of missing tooth. A 12mm 1/4" drive socket on a wiggler (universal) on the end of a 6" extension can engage the not on the end of the exposed large adjustment shaft and, as the shaft is lightly loaded and the electrical switch engaged, one can get the shaft to spin almost one revolution at a time until the seat is high enough. It is hard to reach the nut necessary (inside the dull-grey clevis that the shaft threads into) and I had to take off the seat pad by removing the 4@ 13mm nuts (and 3 @10mm nuts holding the center section with the driver's cushion) to more-or-less easily access the situation. Dealership wanted well over $1000. to fix it. Three out of my 4 up and down adjustment motors are running, but don't adjust. PS, on my 2001 Park Avenue on each seat there is one adjustment motor for the front edge up and down, one adjustment motor for the rear edge up and down, one adjustment motor for the seat fore and aft, and one adjustment motor for the sear back tilt. Lots of complication, not so much on durability. We do not swap out drivers and adjust the seats excessively. Weak design on the one internal gear. Manually adjust it, unplug the electric to the motor, Drive happy again.

Power seat will not move forward or back

William,
There are two seperate motors most likely, it's hard to tell you for sure with such limited info. But try to switch the plugs under the seat on the two motors and then try. If it's going then you need a new motor, if the it still goes up and down it's something with the power to the motor, fuse or wiring issue or switch most likely

2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible power seat stopped moving forward. I had the seat moved all the way back. Switch still allows seat to go up and down and also tilt. Is the switch the problem?

It depends, a test light will make trouble shooting this quick. Unplug the motor that controls forward and back movement. Probe the vehicle side of the connector with your test light while operating the switch. If you have power going to the motor when the switch is activated then it is not a switch issue. It is either the motor or there is an obstruction not allowing the seat to move in the track.

Power seat will move up and down but not back and forward.

make sure the track isn't jammed under the seat doesn't take much to jam it may have to remove it and check wire plug if that doesn't work probably going to be the motor in the seat

My Toyota Camry passanger power seat is adjustable in all directions EXCEPT backwards. It can be adjusted up and down, and the back can be moved as well. The main seat itself was pushed all the way forward...

There are numerous small motors in the seat mechanism that control the seat movement, and these motors can either go bad or have connection problems.

If you can isolate the problem to which of these motors is the culprit, you can likely get another motor at a salvage yard. They are probably also available from Toyota, but you might get sticker shock when they quote the price.

A motor in the power seat of a 93 Lexus LS 400 that I owned went out, and Lexus was asking $300.00 for a replacement. I purchased an entire seat from a salvage yard for $75.00 and got far more motors than I needed.
