Also have a shop check to see if one of the rear air bags is over-extended and leaking.

Check the air lines for leaks especially around the right rear tire area. chances are the flat tire severed or pulled loose one of the lines from compressor

SOURCE: AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS FOR 2000 LINCOLN TOWNCAR CARTIER

I have serviced these in the past and it will probably be a combination of things. I just a few weeks ago fixed a 1999 with the same problems. Generally from past repairs, the electric pump has been working overtime to compensate for leaking rear air shocks. The best solution is to replace them both, not a cheap repair, the pump around 275.00 and each shock arount 275.00.
Just with every thing over time things fail, the rear shocks develop leaks over time/weather cracks, they are easy to check, soapy water will identify this as the problem. If you can get under it enough to spray around the bottom of the shocks when they are inflated. These systems are computer controlled and if you have the proper scanner you can check the system out for eletrical problems easily. My past experiences with these suspensions as almost always the shocks and pump.

SOURCE: Air compressor for air suspension on 1994 Lincoln Town car.

Sounds like the compressor isnt getting power nor told to do so.

My first step to try for power is to go to the engine bay, Go to the fuse box above the engine and swap the Horn relay for the one in air suspension and try using the horn. If the horn doesnt work theres your problem!

Next step if above fails. Is to check for any blown fuses and replace as needed then retry.

The air suspension also has a height sensor on it, If that has failed the car wouldnt work out where it was and wouldnt adjust. also there is a Air Suspension/Evo Steering Module which controls the system but if there was a problem with this i belive you would also loose power steering.

SOURCE: just had car dealership repair 1997 lincoln town air ride

Those Lincolns are notorious for that,I'd just get a set of coil springs out of a Crown Victoria cop car(junk yard)and swap them out.Done it many times, you can do it in about an hour, and they'll never leak down again.By the way, there's some O-rings in that system.Make some soapy water and spray every connection, just maybe you'll get lucky.

Need to change air suspension compresor of 1998 Lincoln Town Car

The compressor is next to the air box on the driver side under a plastic cover. One plug, two hoses and 3 bolts that hold it down. The hose on the top of the compressor is a quick release. Push in hose and hold red ring at bottom, and it should pull right out

My air suspension light came on and want go off

The warning light is advising you of a fault in the rear air suspension system. Is the car sitting level ? The switch in the trunk is ONLY TURNED OFF when you incur a flat tire in the rear tires and must jack up the rear of the car. IF NOT TURNED OFF the air suspension will over-extend with air . Hope this helps.

Air Rise Suspension/computer module

my brother in law replaced the air springs on my '94 town car with rear coil springs from a '92 crown vic. He raised the rear tires off the ground and put jack stands on the frame for safety on both sides. Then disconnected the shocks at the lower end and removed the air springs.removed rear tires and used a piece of 2x4 to pry axle down to provide clearance to put coil springs in place. then hooked shocks back up and it worked fine. the only way the coil springs could come out is if the car was upside down and then who cares. This project only cost $ 25.00 Real cheap being we were broke!
