Turn the ignition to the on position do not start it.
Within 5 seconds depress the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times and then turn the key off.
Turn the key on and the change oil light should not come back on.
You might have to try it 3 to 5 times until you get the hang of it.
This procedure is in the owners manual.
The only way to find out without alot of guess work is to retrieve the trouble code from the ecm for the check engine light, to do this you will need a OBD II diagnostics tool, there is a data link connector under the drivers side dash where it plugs into, if you don't want to buy one some auto parts stores will do it at no cost, example auto zone.

2004 Chevy Impala LS 120kmiles check engine was on for several weeks...autozone said it was probably an o2 sensor. Now light went out but service traction and abs lights are on. Any suggestions for Christine here?
