Hey guys. My 2004 ford freestar's brakes are driving me nuts. The driver's side rear and ONLY the driver's side rear brakes are whining like a school bus or a garbage truck brakes. First step was changing cracked pads. The noise came back after a week. I cleaned the existing caliper, same result. Changed the caliper twice, same result. The noise stays away for about a week or two and then comes back. A retired mechanic relative suggested that the brake line may have been old and collapsing on itself, so I changed that also. Same thing again!!! It's pretty embarrassing in a parking lot or drive through, everybody's head turns. If someone had ANY ideas for me to try me and the Mrs. would be greatly appreciative. Cause when mama's not happy, NOBODY'S happy. Thanks in advance for any advice!!!
Here's a link,did you do this when changing pads,may need t0 do,also here's a link,it says to
SOURCE: changed caliper on 2005 ford freestar and now brakes are spongie.
When bleading the brakes have someone there watching to make sure the master cylinder never runs out of brake fluid or all of your time spent bleading them will be waisted.

Anti-rattle hardware missing on rear brakes or worn caliper guide pins.

this sounds odd but mine did this when i replaced the wipers. it seems the design of the wiper frame was making a whistle at higher speeds. the freestar wipers are exposed on the window cowl and not hidden so they endure the winds at high speed. it is worth a shot.

I am having this same issue. I have changed my brakes and now I was going to change the front wheel bearing, but unsure to dump a lot of money out on an unsure fix.
Let me know if anyone has a fix?

Something i forgot to mention, the whining sound does not happen when the brakes are engaged, but when the vehicle is moving. It's almost as if the brakes aren't releasing completelyon that one wheel. That's why it's so frustrating.
