2000 Kia Sportage doesnt want to start.

It turns over but doesnt want to start. Once I get it started it is fine. If I shut if off, same problem. I was told it needs a new idle control valve, which is on order, but this just started. I am at a loss. Any helpful tips would be great. Thanks

Did you have your car checked by a mechanic/dealer? Did they scanned it and found the fault being the Idle control valve? If this is the case then we'll just have to wait for the new part to be fitted to the vehicle. Cheers

Get your sparkplug and sparkplug wires checked, if not ten u yay have to get your fuel filter changed and check the rest of ur injection system.

there is a splice for fuel injectors at the front of the fuel rail conduit and electric tape will need to be removed to see if it is ok then clean up all engine grounds and ecm grounds on passenger side kick panel if this doesnt help check coils and crank sensor

2000 sportage hard to start after it is shut off or in morning
i have a 2000 sportage and every time mine doesn't start it acts like it may be the spark plugs or something to do with the fuel pump but it is always the starter. I have had it for 7 years and have had to replace the starter 4 times.

It sounds like your CV joints, on the outsides of the front axles, are binding up. You might end up having to replace them. A small piece of advise, drive about a mile or so once a month in 4WD, that will help prevent this from happening again.

When first started, the Kia spits and sputters.
The hold light is on because the button on the left side of the gear selector is depressed. this causes the car to start off in second and doesnt go past third. This information is in your owners maual.
