One hose goes to water pump, the other to the thermostat housing with clamps holding it tightly with anti freeze running wild on the inside like a pack of Yorkies.

SOURCE: Heater Vacuum hose disconnected No front heat and ticking noise

That path begins at the intake manifold which is the only source of vacuum for those controls. In all systems I have seen, there is a bottle or canister under the hood that acts as a reserve source for all vacuum-operated devices since the level of vacuum varies greatly depending on whether the engine is running free or lugging.  Tracing backward might not be fun but is possible.

Where is the thermostat located on a 2003 Ford Windstar van with a3.8 litre engine....it has "rear heat" also...and air conditioning....I really appreciate your help...Its freezing cold "here" today...and...

the housing for the thermostat should be located just above the transmission as you are facing the car. by the battery. look for the 3inch dia hose that goes from the radiator to the housing. GE

Leaks from a hose coming out of water pump and wraps around behind engine. what hose is this?

That hose appears to be your heating hose.On that line the warm water goes in to the cabin and makes your radiator warm, same size hose should be there as well as the water comes back on that one.

98 ford wind star running hot

Warm the engine up to operating temperature. Does the upper radiator hose get warm? If no, then cange the thermostat. If yes, then the thermostat is working fine. On the thermostat housing, there is a sensor. Some engines have 2 sensors. One goes to the computer and the other goes to the temp needle in the dash. Unplug the harness and put a jumper wire in the harness. Turn the key to on, and see if the temp needle goes up. Which ever harness causes the needle to go up, replace that sensor. Hope this helps.
