Low brake fluid

On the message center my Impala shows "Low Brake Fluid", but the fluid is at the full line. Also the "Change Eng. Oil" cannot be reset. She has 215,000 and has been a good one, but is the CPU begining to fail?

Probably not . have a code reader reset the computer.

Testimonial: "I have tried that as well as disconnecting the battery terminal for 10 minutes."

SOURCE: reset message center window

THIS SHOULD HELP YOU

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHG OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure. Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio®. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second. Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

SOURCE: add brake fluid light on but fluid not low

Sometimes the float in the master cylinder gets stuck and you have to carefully work it up and down with a screwdriver or something. The switch might be bad on the float too. If the low fluid switch is telling the system that the master cylinder is low, that will cause the "Brake" light on the dash, to come on too.

1999 Ford Escort. I was driving down the road, smelled oil burning, clutch lost compression, brake fluid low, added brake fluid, won't engage in any of the gears.

Question edited for a lot more clarity and fix funky punctuation.
Question moved to make model category.

Totally a guess here, but it sounds like the clutch line ruptured somewhere and sprayed the engine with brake fluid so you smelled burning oil. If it was empty of brake fluid, you have a system full of air, and if the pipe is split or seals have blown, pressing the clutch pedal won't do anything. The system needs checking from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder.

Hi, two months ago low brake fluid indicator came on, brake fluid was added. This morning low brake fluid warning came on. I must have a leak. Front brake pads & rotors replaced 10 months ago.

Take it to a shop which has a lift, like an oil change or muffler shop, have them put on the lift. The leak will be apparent as it will be a wet recent stain. Then you will know if you are looking at a brake line fix, a leaking master or slave cylinder.

Do not blame the guy who did the pads 10 months ago, anything he did wrong would be immediately apparent and would not take 8 months to show.

I got 2005 Chevy Impala, 150k driven and tonite when I advanced from a red light a message instantly showed up. I pulled down my car but without caring much start the highway again hoping the car would...

You just need to add brake fluid to the brake master cylinder reservoir. Any "fast lube" place can do this for you in just a few minutes. You will have to refer to your owners manual to get instructions on how to reset the warning light.

While driving the !P Brake light came on and now brake pad only stops when pushed all the way down to the floor.

First check your brake fluid level...this is the first symptom of low brake fluid pressure...If the fluid is still full, then no brake pedal pressure means bad master cylinder...or leak in brake lines or connections...should be able to trace...Not a fun problem...safe brakes are a priority...hopefully just low fluid...fill to full mark...:)
