How many miles do you have on it? Might be time for a tune-up (new plugs, plug wires, etc.) Start with the simple things first - have you changed your fuel filter? Could also be bad gas - couple of bottles of Heet (alcohol) will help with this. Then move on to more things like a Vacuum leak, fuel pump.
Backpressure is the result of any obstruction in exhaust flow. Both the converter and muffler create a certain amount of backpressure by design. If the cat becomes plugged, exhaust cannot properly escape and can cause an extreme lack of power. (Engine can't draw in what it can't expell out the other end) Usually the rotten egg smell is also accompanied by a "wheezing" sound in the cat as well.
recheck the spark plug wiring order and make sure they are all plugged in properly.... check and see if a connector has come unplugged as well as any vacuum hoses... if you changed the air filter... check the hose going to the motor and make sure it is all secure
