Cooling fans won't kick in

Hi
I have a campervan , Peugot 1993 2.5 turbo diesel. Some time ago the cooling fans wouldn't always cut in when the engine heated up. Now they're not cutting in at all . I'm assuming that the problem is a sensor but I'm not sure. Any help would be much appreciated (please ignore model number )
