Hi all,
just bought an audi a3 2002 model and the temperature gauge is not working, any ideas on how to troubleshoot this ??
thanks in advance.
On 1999 A6 2.8: the temperature gage goes exactly to the middle immediately after the ingnition is turned on. When warmed-up the needle goes to high limit, but it seems that the engine operating temperature is normal. Fan kick in at low speed and it changes to high when hot, but the temperature gage needle stays on high until engine is switched off. Any ideas what may be wrong guys? Thank you.
The guage and fan speeds work on independant sensors. If you can remove the plastic engine cover and locate the "sending unit" for the gauge disconnect it and restart the engine. The gauge should remain cold and not move. If this is the case replace the sending unit. This should be a single wire sender located in the waterjacket of the intake manifold look in the area where the upper rad hose enters the intake.
