Going about 20mph, pushed on gas and realized engine was not running. Tried to start, cranked but wouldn't turn over. Towed to autoshop, replaced fuel pump. Next time I drove it, same thing happened at approx same mph. Towed again, but when it got to autoshop, it started right up. Autoshop put about 60 miles on it in two days of driving trying to recreate the problem. Autoshop checked out everying they could, the called and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I am 64 yr young single Lady, now afraid to drive my otherwise very reliable vehicle! Bought New, only 67,000. miles on it.
Posibly fuel pump relay /ignition madule or pickup coil.
When you say "cranked but would not turn over" I assume you mean it turned over but would not crank. Otherwise, it does not make sense.
Assuming that, I would replace the fuel filter. It is a cheap part and easy to install. What happens is dirt gets in the filter and stops the car because it is not getting fuel. After sitting a while, the fuel dains out of the filter along with the debris and it works well until it happens again (usually when you are low on fuel). It is a cheap fix and probably will solve your problem.
