Fuel pressure what should the fuel pressure be on the 4.0 motor

Have you listened by putting your ear to fuel filler if you can hear the fuel pump whirring as someone turns the ignition to accesory , if you can not hear the fuel pump motor for about 3-4 seconds whirring your fuel pumps stuffed

you are looking for the fuel pressure regulator.what motor do you have ? the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder. if the 6 cylinder it is at the end of the fuel rail next to the throttle body

First off, do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the key. Should hear a light buzzing from the fuel tank for approx. 5 seconds. Have you opened the pressure line or the pressure test port on the fuel line on top of the engine to see if you are getting any fuel even trickling out especially during the priming. Pressure should be in the neighborhood of 45-50 psi for the system. A fuel pump can slowly fail, by losing pressure, but still can move some fuel if you hear it running oon the prime cycle. You can often borrow a fuel pressure guage from your local chain auto parts store to actually see what's goin on with the fuel system. You hook it up to the test port on the fuel rail and watch the pressure on the prime cycle. If it is very low, try priming the system 3 or 4 times to see if pressure builds, if not that would lead to testing the pressure regulator. But that's for next time.

Check that the fuel pressure is the proper fuel pressure for the car some have low pressure systems and some have high pressure systems. if you put a low pressure pump on a high pressure system the pump will overheat and blow the fuse because it cant keep up.

Check your fuel pressure at the schraeder valve that is on the fuel rail. If you have fuel pressure, check for spark.If no spark, then ignition diagnosis is needed.If no fuel pressure, check for diconnected, or pinched wires, as this can easily happen during an engine swap.

With fuel pressure gauge hook up, check reading, then disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator, regulator sit on injector fuel rail, fuel pressure should go up, if it don't fuel pressure regulator stuck close, and not letting fuel back into fuel tank, hope this was very helpful.

Removal procedures :
1. Remove the rear seat cushion
2. To reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hoses, first start the engine and then disconnect the electrical fuel pump connector. Be sure to reduce the fuel pressure before disconnecting the fuel main pipe and hose otherwise fuel will spill out.
3. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
4. Remove the high pressure hose and fuel return hose.
5. Remove the fuel pump assembly.
Installation procedure is the reverse order of the removal.

Check the actual fuel pressure and make sure it is to spec. Fuel injected vehicles need a certain pressure to run.
