Wheels are ripped off back axle

The rear tires on my 2000 deawoo nubira connect to the axle with some little circular part that looks to me to be connected to the braking system. My husband lost control and put my car in the ditch and some how managed to rip both rear wheels off. I need to know what the part is called and if it is easily found on the market or do I need to start junkyard hopping. Please give a name, diagram or picture of what I need to find.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I would ave never thought of the library.

Check the library out and all they have is a general repair guide for all cars... will that work? And auto zone doesn't have my car's repair guide available to view on line.Anymore suggestions?

Try autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you and also junkyarddog.com

if it was me I would ask someone at the library to help you with looking your car up and I am very sure they will come up with something here are some cars that are close to the same model as yours Hyundai Elantra and Kia Spectrum if they cannot help you there then check in the phonebook for someone that services import cars and maybe they can make copies of what you need

Looking at what could cause the rear of the car to wiggle side to side when accelerating from 0 to 25 mph? the wheels do not look like they are wobbling when driving down the road! tire belts bad?

Tires...rear suspension...rear alignment - in that order. I had a car with a really bad rear alignment that hop sideways every time you went over a bump in the road.

Rear wheels, do they use shims?

I believe moog or someone makes a shim that goes between the
axle housing and the wheel bearing to adjust the alignment.
However,if the rear camber is out(the wheels tip in at the top)
The coil spring will also cause this,if the back end is lower than
the front ,bet on the springs.
Easy way to tell,,just jack the vehicle up by the rear bumper in the
center of the back.
only a few inches ,if the wheels "stand " back up the coil springs are at fault.
The Firestone guys are correct I think but that is only a "band-aid"
on the real problem.

I have a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. i noticed a little diff fluid coming from the right rear wheel. I changed the wheel seal and axle bearing and put it all back together and filled the rear diff with...

first swap to a front tyre to eliminate that issue

new bearing shouldn't be rumbling
to get the bearing square on and home
did you use a press to fit the bearing to the rear axle
or tube method ?

and did the seal kit have this nifty plastic seal fitter so axle didn;t rip the seal surface

Suspension?

have the sway bar looked at in the back. if it is loose or broken it will sway. it is the bar connecting the two rear wheels. there are upgrade kits that offer a heavier bar. Also check rear tire pressure. the tires will roll out if too low a pressure is aboard.

2000 jeep grand cherokee quad drive but onlythe rear wheels turn

usualy you will only have two tires spin at a time even in 4 lo or 4high. those tires are going to be diaginal from each other tipicly. now since your vehcle is equiped with quad drive it may employ a limited slip rear differential to help it along. however this only afects the rear axle. now you can test it by jacking your vehicle up and setting it on jack stands. one for each wheel onder the axle tube on a good solid (concreat or black top) flat surface. then have some one you know and trust to get in the car and put it into drive . now you can actualy see what wheels are spinning or not.now is were the limited slip comes in if you have one rear wheel spinning and the other is sitting still the limited slip will engage and start the other wheel spinning . now this may bang until the other wheel catches up (note that the faster the wheel is spinning the harder it is on your truck)now be very carfull stay away from the wheels tires and all other spinning parts it is a machine it can hurt you badly. but give it a try and it will answer your question. be safe hope this helps
