Sure you can. Put a scanner on the diagnostic connector under the dash and check for codes. The codes you get ,do not tell you what is wrong or what to fix,but a starting point for the diagnostic steps you need to take, to find and repair the issues your having. Now --you need an understanding of your vehicles systems and possibly a wiring diagram, to reach a successful conclussion. That's where a professional shop comes in.

Please VERIFY!? P034? NOT P0340? My research reveals you are correct.. there is no such code as P034!!!.. there is P0342 & P0343!! Both are CAM POSITION SENSOR codes. Perhaps this MIGHT help (no guarantee).. Disconnect both battery cables from the battery (+) & (-)... touch these cables together for 30 seconds (nohwere near the battery posts)... then reconnect them to the battery... see what happens. There may be 'JUNK' in the computer memory.. this will erase it and set the computer back to 'DEFAULT' RESET condition (that is, if the computer isn't the problem to begin with OR there's some other sensor/component (like the CAT (catalytic converter) which might be burned out and clogged up). Without actually diagnosising this vehicle myself, there's really no accurate way of pinpointing the problem. Hope this is helpful.
The trouble code P1128 is for a faulty mass air flow sensor or MAP. This is a common problem with 1999-2000 Accents. There is air leakage within the unit and/or the hot wire in the unit is badly contaminated. A bad MAP will cause the vehicle to bog and loose power.
