I have a damaged lower oil pan on a 2006 hyundai tucson (slight leak). What happens if I don't replace it?

I'm blaming you pal ?????? try to locate the issue by having someone run the car out of gear ...whilst look have a look under the bonnet listening for it ... Simulate the conditions ..operate the Air con.. Engine running

You have to remove the transmission oil pan to access the transmission fluid filter. The bolts are turned counter clockwise to remove and clockwise to install (righty tighty, lefty loosey). The biggest problem you will have is the transmission oil leaking from the pan after you replace the transmission pan. Look up the details on proper installation of the pan. Also, check your manual (at local library) to see if their are going to be any obsticles you will have to remove that might be on top of the transmission pan or in the way of the transmission pan. And please don't under-fill, over-fill, use cheap transmission oil or the wrong type of transmission oil. Make sure you use the kind of transmission oil that your vehicle manufacture recommends. Have plenty of rags on hand. Put some cardboard under your vehicle to catch any spills.

check for damaged oil pan and also check the oil pan nut for damage

• Hi, for oil to leak that fast you have got a massive leak. The ticking itself could be from low oil. First check the oil plug (where you drain the oil) on the oil pan with will be the bottom most part of the engine. It is possible the plug is not holding tight, the gasket may be old, torn or just plain missing. Sometimes people will strip them oil plugs. When this happens the pan has to be tapped a little over and a new, slightly oil plug installed.

• On the oil filter housing are oil cooler line that have to hold a lot of pressure. Follow those lines to see if they are leaking oil.

• I don't see a front seal leaking leaking quite that bad. A valve cover I am not sure would leak quite like that either. Your oil pan gasket could leak like this though. When you check the oil pan plug look strait up to all them little bolt holding the oil pan to the lower part of the engine. If leaking is noted then snug them bolts up or have them snugged up.

• You may have to throw a piece of cardboard on the ground and crawl underneath with a flashlight and get a better eyeball on the leak. What ever the leak it is massive and should be repaired before driving or you could loose to much oil and seize your engine. The ticking. in my opinion, is the engine telling you it is very low on oil as it is.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   
2. Remove the engine oil dipstick and tube.
   
3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
   
4. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter.
   
5. Remove the structural collar.
   
6. Remove the exhaust cross-under pipe.
   
7. Remove the torque converter housing cover.
   
8. Remove the lower bolt attaching the A/C compressor to the oil pan.
   

WARNING!!!!!
Be sure to remove the 2 bolts attaching the timing cover to the oil pan, as damage to the timing cover and/or oil pan may occur.

1. Remove the oil pan attaching fasteners.
   
2. Remove the oil pan and gasket.
   

get it fixed. then get the shop to clean off the starter. oil is not good for electrical parts.

my Hyundai 'Tucson 2006 had a leak today when I came out from work. I don't know about cars but i'm curious enough to open the engine top to see what's going on. And I found a piece just lying there, It's the same as the top to check the oil, has a yellow plastic part says A/C oil. I couldn't find where it goes or what it is.

Clicking is a hard noise to diagnose over the computer. It could be a leaking exhaust manifold to a bad valve inside the engine. If it's a worse case thing, driving it more may cause further damage. My vote would be to tow it to the garage. Better safe than sorry.

The transmission filter is inside the transmission. You have to drain out the oil and remove the transmission pan and gasket. The filter is made of metal guaze and is screwed/bolted to the underneath of the valve body.
