SOURCE: bad left lower ball joint 2004 nissan quest

most of these ball joints can be installed by themselves however since the control arm are so light it is unsafe just to do the balljoints still in order to replace the control arm you dont need to compress any springs just take it apart and put a new one in.

SOURCE: How do you change upper and lower ball joints on 2001 Ford Expedition?

i am not going to lie to you on this. if you do not have a very good mechanical back ground you should not attemp this procedure your self because it could result in serious injury. it should be brought to a shop because they do have the right tools to do this. alot of the time ball joints are pressed in under extream amounts of pressure

SOURCE: Can you replace the lower ball joints in the control arms

You can replace them seperately, but they need pressed out and in. Other methods of removing and installing likely will damage control arm.

Creaking in rear when driving?

If your technician said that it is not a safety issue, then I'm going to assume that he is talking about the sway bar bushings. This is the bar that runs across the back of the car and connects to each side of the suspension. You can removed those bushings by undoing the two metal cages that hold them in (one on each side in the center of the sway bar), and apply grease to where the bar rides against the bushings. This will take care of your annoying squeak. It isn't a safety issue but can be really annoying.

How to change fuel filter 2001 lincoln ls

Chuck you have it basically right, except you don' t to even consider taking the wheel off to replace the fiter you just have to turn the steering wheel al the way to the left, so I am wondering since anyone that does it will know by time they finish if you haven't actually done it before, but nobody take the wheel off simply turn it all the way left.
Not attacking chuck but since they will all know when finished why not tell them and spare the anger for a terribly cumbersome extra step that isn't needed

My air suspention quit working so my rear end is really low and is riding rough I tried to reset the switch in the trunk still don't work then today it died and won't start but still turns over what #

It may be helpful for you to get some idea of the mechanism involved in operating the shock absorbers in your vehicle. Refer this information. It may then be a matter of finding the parts involved if replacement is required

I took my 97 Intrepid to a mechanic and was told I need sub frame bushings replaced. The will charge me about $900. Is ir possible for me to do the work myself. I do some smaller work on my autos myself....

Hi Derek,

My God...Sure is a terrible thing to be charged such a rediculous outragous price!

Yes, you can do this cheaper, by doing it yourself. But,..It isn't an easy task and you have to be very careful!

Compare prices between Auto Zone & Advanced Auto, they both price match. Also, they both rent out tools relatively cheap and the Bushing's for your vehicle costs about $57.99 each.

You will need all (4) bushings required for your vehicle, a jack and jack stands for the front part of car to rest on. Not too mention tools!

Basically it is a (4) bolt cross pattern under your motor, which requires your motor to held with a jack itself, so you have to be careful that you don't damage your engine, Once you get the bushings changed out, you will have to set and torque each one.

There isn't instructions in the Manual on how to do this...but both stores I mentioned can guide you through the process and can give you the torque settings.

I don't know how you are set up on tools or money etc,. so,.. If I was you Derek, I would get some more quotes on prices to have it fixed by a mechanic, that way, you are covered under a warranty!

The parts alone are going to put you over the $200.00 mark! I would rather have the headache searching for quotes with different mechanics, than worrying about damaging my motor, or risk having the motor fall on you and hurting you!

Best of luck to you, I'll give you tip you could try? Since school is back in session, you might see if a local High School (SHOP CLASS) will do the labor for you and you purchase the parts? You'd be surprised! They have licensed technicians over-seeing the students!

Kind Regards!

Is there any way I can replace the air suspention on my 2000 Buick Lesaber with regular shocks I am looking for a more inexpensive way to fix it I hear the motor running trying to pump but the shock...

i would contact a supplier that deals with aftermarkt suspension systems, removing the air ride will require you to beef up the spring rate ,
